very interesting to hear young Shuey say the players have no faith in the eagles game plan. That is a damning admission against John Worsfold i would have thought. it makes you wonder if Cransberg and the Eagles will just hand worsfold a 2 year deal. every scribe in the nation had the eagles as either premiers or grand finalists. injuries or not they have failed miserably. and playing some meek football

i think something weird is brewing. I cant rule out worsfold going to brisbane just yet. and perhaps the eagles are being silently cagey like fremantle were last year in snaring ross lyon. a move now proving to be justified.

melbourne still havent landed a name.
st.kilda may also put a line through Scotty Watters yet.
north will stick with Scott. They will be stronger next year
gold coast must stay with McKenna. he has done a great job in my opinion.

i think Paul Roos, Rodney Eade and Mark Williams are all experienced hard nosed coaches who may all be in new positions next year. new voices and approaches can sometimes make a difference. will be an interesting fortnight ahead

He didnt say they have no faith in the game plan.

He said it is the right game plan, its just onfield within the group they lost faith at some points. Which is fair enough when they are losing, no doubt a few players will question it. Happens at every club when they are down.

It is a big difference to having no faith in the game plan.

probably worded it wrong.

but saying they had lost faith isnt much better.

for a player to actually publicly say that anyway, is very rare. In fact I dont think i have ever heard a player go down that path.

i thought it was a subtle way of saying the game plan isnt working, without actually saying it isnt working. he worded it perfectly, if that was what he was trying to achieve. regardless i think west coast are in a similar position to essendon in terms of james hird. finding it hard to end the rein of a favourite son. this was always going to be an issue from day one for them. i think other clubs may leave the eagles behind if emotion is getting involved. Fremantle a good example of getting on with the job it seems. Others may interpret all this differently, but I see something different

Here's the article - think you are right Jardine

West Coast midfielder Luke Shuey admits the team lost trust in their game plan this year, and says they must rediscover the faith if they are to challenge for the AFL flag next season.

The Eagles started the year as second favourites for the flag, but won't even make the finals after falling three wins adrift of eighth spot.

Last Saturday's 66-point defeat to Geelong was West Coast's worst performances of the season, with their score of 6.5 (41) their lowest ever at Patersons Stadium.

The Eagles became renowned for their full-ground press on the way to reaching the 2011 preliminary final and last year's semi-finals.

But that frenzied pressure has dropped off markedly this season, with a raft of injuries to key players not helping their cause.

Shuey, who himself has missed six games this year due to hamstring issues, is confident the team possesses the talent to challenge for next year's premiership.

But he said it was imperative they buy into coach John Worsfold's game plan.

"I don't think there has been a lot of trust on-field amongst the group, just in terms of our game plan," Shuey said.

"It's the right game plan - we've played really well at some stages this season.

"I think it's matter of finding out why we have these injuries, getting everyone on the park and then getting everyone to buy into the one game plan and start gelling together.

"It certainly makes a difference playing with guys you haven't played with a lot.

"You look at Geelong and there is a reason they are probably the best team in the competition - half of their team has played 150 games together."

Shuey will miss Friday night's clash with Collingwood at the MCG after experiencing tightness in his troublesome hamstring last week.

Other stars who will be unavailable include Nic Naitanui (groin), Beau Waters (shoulder), Mark LeCras (knee/ribs), Daniel Kerr (knee) and Shannon Hurn (ankle).

Collingwood are still in the hunt for a home elimination final, but will be without injured duo Jamie Elliott (hamstring) and Ben Sinclair (shoulder).

In one sentence he is saying this IMO

"We were not good enough to carry out the plan"
