Sydney , failled grand finalists from last season taking on the beligerent, brash, cocky, Hocks tonight.
Sydney need to satrt stronmg tonight and in the early part of the season to help wipe away the shocking performance of the GF.
The Hocks will be bubbling and in ya face with their attitude tonight.
For no other reason, other than a home game and ground advantage, I am tipping Sydney.I reckon by about 27 points.
Can't wait to see some real football again.
Real as in footy that means something,. Something like four points..

HLS, apart from some of the 3rd qtr, the Hawks had control of the contest, their speed and elite ball movement couldn't be stopped even by a Swans team who are renowned for being able to shut teams down.

The Hawks will be very hard to beat if they produce that sort of footy on a consistent basis.

Yes, they really got to te Swans. Swans had a red hot crack, but the Horks took over and were impressive. And that was without mucj coming fromthe Mossie fleet.
The Horks have picked up a couple of pieces they need in Battle and Barrass.
Sicily is a bit of an under sung player.
Made it as a back man, but changes games when he goes forward.
Meek was massive early for the Horks as well..

So, zero from one to start.Things can only get better.
Tomorrows game in Sydney Show grounds should be a cracker.
I have been on the Giants band wagon for a while. They have not been as  good as I thought they would be,
But I think that they have never got out of the problem of keeping their players and a lot of turn over payers makes it hard for them to settle as regular team.
The Pies will be fuming on missing out in 2024.A disappoinnting year for them.
It will be a contest of hard running and tough contest. It depends on whther the cyclone has any effect on conditions.
I tipped the Giants in my tipping contests.
A game I am looking forward to.

The Giants ran the Pies raagged today. They played at times total chaos football to befuddle and bemuse the Pies.
Once they broke, they had pace and skills to burm
Gee the Giants have been able to keep a gun in Finn Callaghan. He is a beauty.Rejected a multi million dollar deal to stay at GWS.Well done young man.
Toby Greene looked like he has got some of his sparkle and mongrel back as well.
They won easily and with Hogan , Green and Stringer to come in, they are looking he goods.

A bit early to be making judgements but have the Pies put too many older players (e.g Membrey) on their list at the expense of renewing their list, in order to have a crack at another flag before legends like Pendlebury and Sidebottom retire?. I think Geelong are better at making these sorts of tough calls on their older players

I agree Mike, A bit early, but they really did look a very old team.Early they played pretty well. but when the Giants took the game on , they were floundering. The Giants speed and speed with which they moved the ball left the Pies looking B grade.
Worrying sign as well with so many cramping so early.I think before half time Nick Daicos was ahving problems. And then it just ran through the group, Harldly sighted Pendles or Siddey.
I don't think any club handles older players than Geelong.
Now we look forward to the real start of the season. Smoke and Mirrors round gone, whisked away into the smoke.
