Well after seeing the first 2 games, I hope the season is more like the Geelong Pies game than the Carlton Richmond game that was a draw but crap standard. The Cats Pies game was like the old days open free flowing high scoring, so enjoyable to watch. The pies will be right in it if they can stay fit, never beaten. Dont mind them now that Eddie and Figjam are history.

I have only watched bits and pieces of games, other than thethe Dees and Dogs.
But a couple ofthing... four umpires... looks like it is going to take a while beofre they  gel as it looked like they were all waiting for each other to makecalls. Many late decisions.
Also noticed Junior took the greatest non mark since the GaryAblett one.But didfinish it off with a spot of candy and a goal.
Buddy up to hisold trick again. But because Buddy is Buddy, he will get off ... again.
Looks like Kossie may be in for a spell on the side lines after his flying bump last night.
Jason Horne Francis showed why he was taken number one draft pick in his year. So composed and cool. Great kick, great vision, super hands. A pity forNorth they could not harness his volatility. He would have been very handy for them. But then agaain, maybe he is happier close to family. But a champion of the future.
Looking forard to seeing the Dockers today.
Forgot to mention,,, the Goal referals system. What a debalce it is. A multi million doallar organisation ,maybe billions, and can not get the system right after all these years. It looks like a system set up by a ten year old having a crack at it for the first time.
With todays technology, you would think they can have it down pat by now. Shocking.

Anchor agree about the non mark but I think the umps are encouraged to do close enough is good enough with a big hanger. Cossy is a gun but should get 2 weeks, he jumped and made hard high contact, luckily for him the bloke he hit is hard as nails and got straight up, that will work in his favour. The ex player commentators all thought nothing to see here due to the player getting straight up, but thats not the point, the next time might cause severe injury.

S S, imagine that mark being paid in the closing stages of  the GF., and the resulting kick winning the GF. Shocking decision.
That is the problem with head high hits. He may suffer a delayed concussion. What happens then if he misses two weeks. Weak as piss.
Not wanting to pan the umps, but they have got to be better as does the MRP.

To me the biggest surprise of the weekend was how easily Port Adelaide beat Brisbane. Hawthorn and West Coast could be in for tough seasons which is quite strange given how good both teams have been in the last 10 -  15 years.
Round 1 usually gives very little indication of where teams will finish but the margin of some of the losses would have been concerning for some coaches

Mike, Fremantle were totally disappointing.  Never really looked in the game. Saint quicker won majority of ground and contested balls.
Fremantlewill have to regroup quickly or slip into a position they don't want to be.

Anchor it was frustrating that the coach refused to give Fyfe a run in the mids, he was all at sea up forward, he needed to be back in familiar territory to build his confidence after so little footy last year. Freo were caned at the stoppages and that's Fyfes strength. Taberner is a dead weight imho, has all the skills but lacks the attack on the footy, Give Amiss a good long run at FF as he is the future. Longmuir was comprehensively out coached by Ross the boss, but maybe a good learning experience.

I think Tabs may be injured, so maybe that could be a blessing in disguise.
I amin agreeance with Amiss. He looks the goods and is a leading forward.
Our forward line is our major problemand we have plenty to fill roles up there. Sturt, Erasmus, and maybe Johnson, Though maybe Erasmus and Johnson will become mids rather than forwards.
Maybe the boys became complacent and when ambushed early, didn't know howto respond to winback the ascendancy.
maybe we will find out next game.
