Fantastic achievement by both. Boomer through durability and Wellsy through sheer persistence. Also Simon Black equals the Brisbane Lions games record of 317 currently held by Marcus Ashcroft tomorrow against the Pies. Not a bad career highlighted by:

Brisbane Lions premiership 2001, 2002, 2003
Brownlow Medal 2002
Norm Smith Medal 2003
All-Australian Team 2001, 2002, 2004
Merrett-Murray Medal 2001, 2002, 2006
Brisbane Lions captain 2007–2008
Marcus Ashcroft Medal 2011

Surely up there with the best ever produced out of WA?

Well done to the two North boys. Hopefully this time you can have a win!! As a North supporter, I am getting increasingly frustrated with these fade outs/lapses. the game is played over 4 quarters boys!!!

I'm still pissed at the game on the weekend that you threw away. (along with your season)

West Australian football will pay for their presentations at the end of the year as the club will have their hand out again and forever until they either return to the proud VFL or move to Gold Coast.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

You make no sense. Lose the inferiority complex - it's pathetic.

You mustn't know anything about north Melbourne's dire financial situation basically from the onset of the AFL.

They can not afford to be in the AFL - they sell their games and play wherever the highest bidder dictates, yet did not take the golden opportunity to move to the Gold Coast.

This move would have seen Gold Coast be competitive from the start.

It would have prevented this ridiculous 18 teams expansion that we have now (with blow outs in half the games played).

It would have helped decentralise the Australian game away from Melbourne.

It would have led to Footscray going to West Sydney. (and again making them competitive from the start.

Both would help clear the way for the competition to decrease to 14 teams. These 14 teams would play the other 13 twice for a 26 round competition and a fair home and away season with all games being block busters.

If you can't see the benefits of this then you are only thinking about your club, (who by the way can stay in the VFL where they can afford it - no fold, merge or relocation necessary)and not the big picture of the AFL being overrun by soccer.

The other two teams btw to make this 14 team AFL come into existance.

Back to the VFL St Kilda.

Melbourne Blues. (a merge)

Strong AFL strong State Leagues.

It is clearly better for the Game.

The remaining 14 Clubs to enter reserve teams down the track. Squads of 60.

Not another $ to Struggling Vic clubs.

I follow west coast not north - but i have a huge respect for their history and tradition. They have a small, loyal following that wants north in melbourne not the gold coast, and the gold coast should have their own team too. The operating result of north melbourne for the year ended 31 October 2012 was a profit of $1,193,080.The Club is committed to further reducing commercial debt by another $1m in 2013 with a view to eliminate all debt over the next two to three years. So how is western australian football paying for north melbourne?

You see anchorman why i don't bother posting the AFL team i support!!

Same old same old! i've copped it ever since i can remember, that i support a team that doesn't have supporters, doesn't deserve to be in the competition etc etc.
It's the team i support and always will. if they fold or as TFAF says, send them back to the VFL, then as a WA based supporter, i will then lose interest in the AFL. Sure, who cares, i'm sure its the same with the Fitzroy supporters. People get over it.

It's funny, it would be different if how i ended up supporting North had gone the other way. From what i remember i was around 7/8 years old (early eighties), sitting down in my pajamas watching the winners, and a game between North Melbourne and Geelong was being shown. As both were blue and white (i support EF in the WAFL) i didn;t know who to barrack for. One was the classic blue and white (NTH MELB) the other the same hooped jumper as EF (at the time anyway). Decided i'd barrack for who won. North by 2 points and so it goes....

Probably the thing that annoys me the most, is it's ALWAYS supporters of other clubs that just don't give a shit about anyone else exept who they support!

TFAF wouldn't say it about Perth no matter WHAT the situation.

Spot on i support Perth as well and i wouldn't be making these sorts of comments after the crap Perth has served up over the last 36 years.

I don't think there is too many teams in Melbourne. They are great teams, real clubs with history and tradition. They are not soulless like the new clubs. In Tfaf's 14 team afl every game is a blockbuster. Pure fantasy. The reality is only in Melbourne are there blockbuster games. They occur at the G and involve Carlton, Collingwood,Essendon, Melbourne, Richmond, Geelong and hawthorn.

The only thing pure fantasy around here is your comment in using the words Blockbuster & the Melbourne FC in the same sentence!!
Those deadset flogs would be beaten by Claremont & maybe a couple of other WAFL teams!
