Good to see Will Schofield have a shot at the old vfl (some know it as the afl). Talk about double standards. They’ll try anything to keep the flag in that festering shithole.

Link Shark?
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

West Coast premiership defender Will Schofield has labelled the AFL “the old VFL” after the league’s decision to allow eastern states clubs to continue training freely this week.

And Schofield has warned AFL players the coming season could be even harder than last year due to continued COVID-19 border and quarantine restrictions.

Schofield, a Victorian product who played 194 games for the Eagles before retiring at the end of last season, labelled the move to let West Coast and Fremantle be disadvantaged by WA’s lockdown this week a clear case of double standards.

Last May when the State Government relaxed social distancing rules which allowed the Eagles and Dockers to train in groups of 10, AFL boss Gillon McLachlan quickly intervened to stop it on the grounds of fairness.

“We need that for the equity of our competition,” McLachlan said.

“I think all our clubs and coaches and players agree with that.”

Schofield said West Coast were slapped with “effectively a cease and desist order” last season.

“The argument that was used last year was they wanted competitive balance within the AFL. Well now the shoe’s on the other foot per se and the old VFL has got control again,” he told Sport FM.

“If we do come out (of lockdown) on Friday…it will be nice and easy for the AFL to sweep it under the rug and play on.

“But I think if the shoe was on the other foot, there would be a lot more noise coming from over east. I hope for both Fremantle and West Coast, if there’s continued lockdowns over here, there is some equality shown.”

Premier Mark McGowan indicated today that continued daily case counts of zero this week would result in the lockdown being lifted as scheduled on Friday at 6pm, though some restrictions would need to remain in place until 14 days had passed.

If they are allowed, WA’s two AFL clubs could train as early as Saturday morning or even under lights on Friday night.

Schofield warned players of more tough times ahead.

“I think this year 2021, as an AFL player, is going to look very similar, if not the same, if not worse, in terms of changes, hubs, schedule differences, than it did last year,” he said.

“And I think it’s going to be more difficult as a player. Because last year, no-one had ever done it. We were trendsetting effectively, almost in world sport.

“So this time around, the people know what’s coming. I think sometimes in life, not just footy, if you know what’s coming up and you know it’s a difficult period it makes it hard.”

Schofield was one of the more vocal players last season, speaking out in June to say it was disappointing the WA clubs hadn’t been given an end date to their first Gold Coast hub.

“I was just honest. It was a difficult decision for me to leave my family and businesses here in Perth,” he said.

“I wasn’t going to shy away from the fact it was difficult. I went across in the end and definitely wouldn’t take it back.

“It was a good experience. I learnt a lot. But it was difficult. I can’t hide away from that either.”

McLachlan is a tool who is so pro Victoria and expansion clubs it's not funny and last year the Dockers girls were robbed of a chance to play in a grand final and win a flag, this tool has nearly 12 months later come out and admit they should have allowed the women to complete a finals series and that Fremantle were robbed.

No one does anymore from WA I guess. The VFL is expanding to take in non VFL teams now and chose not to rename it accordingly. Same shit as what Schofield is talking about.
