“And now the end is near…” As Frank Sinatra once famously said, and it is true, we have reached the penultimate round in the home and away season and things are still as exciting as ever. With the finals spots still up for grabs and the ladder positions changing once more, anything can and will happen as MrM (DrM for you staunch followers) has said. Top 5 still to be decided, relegation still up in the air, what a good few week’s we do have left in season 2023, before we hit finals.
Off the field, MrM is going as well as ever and despite those coming for MrM, he continues to thrive, even though MrM (DrM once more for all who cannot read) is on afternoon shift this week and his commute is later, thriving and surviving is the name of the game. Despite mixed feedback it is fair to say MrM has been captivated by the Women’s Soccer World Cup. The crowds, the fascination, the fact it is a lot more exciting than Men’s soccer. With that being said, sport being played prime time is something the AFL could learn, perhaps playing the GF on a Monday night is the secret to getting a sold-out stadium and more than 6 million viewers, we may never know unless we try.Alright, let us look at this weekend.
North Beach v Scarborough @Charles Riley Reserve
The Beach Boys need to win their final two, hope another team lose both their games and make up 40% to play finals, however that seems unlikely, but MrM knows they would love nothing more than giving Scarborough a thumping. The Scarborough boys suffered a loss last weekend, with relegation looming large and need a win to definitely keep themselves safe. Will be a good game, but at home, the Beach Boys hard to pass up.

Trinity Aquinas v West Coast @Bill Grayden Reserve
Well, this will be a good game for the TA’s boys to fine tune their game plan heading into finals with TA’s also needing one more win to secure the first week of finals off. They do face a gallant West Coast team who MrM thinks could get it done, but it will not be this weekend and sadly for them it could be a tough day at the office, however that being said, never count out horse #2 in a Two horse race.

Mount Lawley v University @Inglewood Oval
The Beaufort Bandits have managed to stay in A Grade and that would have been their goal so well done to them. Uni on the other hand thought they were going to have a tough season, but they have flourished and will now look to get themselves a home final if possible. Will be a good game for all, but 123 Uni boys are we to win.

Fremantle C.B.C v Kingsway @Morris Buzacott Reserve
Arguable game of the round. For Freo CBC a win would see them jump ahead of Kingsway and put them in the box seat to earn a double chance heading back into finals as they look to replicate last season’s run. Whereas Kingsway are very much looking to do the same and see this as a very winnable game. Should be a fascinating contest, and at home, CBC to get it done.

Wanneroo v Curtin University Wesley @Wanneroo Showgrounds
Wanneroo breathed some life back into their season with a strong win last weekend and given they have their final two games at home, you never know what could happen. Curtin Uni stand in their way though and will be very interested in winning and maintaining their spot in second of the ladder. Upsets can and will happen in sport, But MrM is a realist and will say, it wont happen this weekend.

Good luck to all.
