We are nearly at the halfway point of the season, and it is shaping up to a be a very exciting back half of the season indeed.  The excitement at the top of the ladder will keep many viewers interested and as we near closer to the June 30 deadline of transfer, where the merry go around of players end up is anyone’s guess.  But there is still plenty to play for over the next 10 weeks, so strap yourself in and get ready for some quality A Grade football.

Off the field, last weekend MrM (DrM for those loyal followers) suggested any club with their set up on the eastern banks should be banished from the ye ole Perth Football League, feedback was received, and some clubs were given their notice, (so DrM believes). This week MrM is going a step further and say, if your club rooms are not within a close proximity to the interchange benches, then not only should you be fined, but you should also be outlawed from the PFL. Of course, many will think we are singling out the “Higher Education” clubs, but many fall foul of this, Eastern Suburbs, Northern Suburbs, Southern Suburbs, just need to do better for all.

Alright let us look at this weekend.

Scarborough v North Beach @Millington Oval

The battle of the coastal teams here and this is quite a big rivalry for all on or off the field, especially down on the Barrack Street Jetty in years gone past. This weekend Scarborough are fresh off a good win and will want to keep that winning feeling alive, as they face the wounded tiger in North Beach. North Beach have copped some hidings at home this season and need to start stringing together some wins, or it could be an opportunity lost in year 2023. It will be a good game, North Beach to bounce back.

Kingsway v Fremantle C.B.C @Kingsway Reserve

Kingsway are surprising many teams this season and it is definitely surprising to see them it on top of the ladder. Depth may be a long-term issue for Kingsway, as they cannot afford to many injuries given their ineptness in their fellow A Grade sides, however at the moment things are rolling along nicely. Meanwhile CBC had an interesting game last weekend and will be playing for the poor fellow that snapped his leg into two pieces and want to get the job done for him. CBC may do enough to get it done here, MrM will roll with them.

University v Mount Lawley @UWA Sports Park

The Uni boys are gathering some good form this season but face a tough task this weekend especially against a team who is also starting to gather some momentum, Uni will need to get a few more wins before those Uni holidays roll around.  Mount Lawley have been good in recent weeks and will fancy themselves here but cannot discount Uni. At home, Uni may have the big ground advantage, but Mount Lawley will be used to that.

Curtin University Wesley v Wanneroo @South Oval

After an abrupt end to the game last weekend Curtin Uni will be primed and ready to go this weekend, they are showing some good signs and will no doubt view this weekend as another opportunity to get a win. Meanwhile, Wanneroo are looking to bounce back after last weekend and hope that a strong showing against a quality side, may be the boost they need to get their season going. It will be a tough ole slog at South Oval, given the weather, it may be a muddy deck even for both sides. but thinking at home, Curtin Uni looking fresh, you cannot discount them, but MrM will.

West Coast v Trinity Aquinas @City Beach Oval

It is fair to say West Coast are having a tough ole season, whether it is injuries, or players not playing, they are different to last season, wins may be few however it does not get any easier this weekend as they face a side, that last week from first bounce to last siren were never behind, but still lost. The TA boys are looking very good and big, and they have had the extra rest and will be ready to go this weekend.  If it was a dry day, id have said it would be a thrashing, but MrM is going with a simpler term and say TA to win comfortably.

Good luck to all this weekend.
