I always wondered why I had a sense of foreboding prior to a game against Claremont and after having checked the record since the Grand final win against them in 2010, I now realise why because they have basically owned Swans since then.

In the past 14 years, Swans and Claremont have played 33 times, Swans have won 8, Claremont have won 25. When they have played on the Tigers home patch (Claremont Oval, Showgrounds, Mt Barker) the record is 2-16!
Swans have not won a game at Claremonts home ground since 2013 and since then have suffered 12 consecutive defeats with an average losing margin of around 40 points. As you would expect the record at Bassendean is better with 15 games and Swans have won 6 of those.

It is still an absymal record and I'm not sure that the current team are really up to doing anything about this tomorrow, especially after the crushing disappointment of last weeks last minute defeat. I suppose it could fire them up but I am not holding my breath. Self belief seems to be lacking in both the playing group and the supporters.
The only thing that might give me some hope is that they are certainly due and maybe we might catch Claremont on a bad day

The fixturing for this game is beyond ridiculous. Swans should be playing one of the teams that played last weekend, while Claremont should be playing either the Eagles reserves team or Peel Dockers.
Swans played six days ago and Claremont two weeks ago. That alone makes it a difficult task to win this weekend.

Good point, absolutely stupid fixturing. But TBH not surprising for the WAFC.

Swans on the road not beaten Claremont (on Claremonts Home patch) since 2016 apparently.
Has been a long dry spell there for the black and whites.
Be good to see them turn that around this week.
The weather is tipped to be fine around the various grounds on game day.

GTRX just checked WA footy facts and it says our last win at Claremont was July 2013. Swans won by 39 points. Pretty sure that was the day that Murray Newman walked out at quarter time. Charlie Cameron and Rory Lobb were also playing for Swans that day as young guys who would move on to the AFL

puts an enormous amount of pressure on Ashley Prescott

Great response by the team after last weeks disappointment. They showed a level of desperation and intensity which I think took Claremont by surprise. It was an awful game to watch with both teams making so many mistakes but Swans appeared to be more willing to work harder, particularly in the 2nd half. Their 3rd quarter working into the breeze was outstanding and if they had got results for effort we would have been 2 or 3 goals up rather than even at 3 quarter time.

Swans had a good start with the first 3 goals, 2 of which were pretty much umpire assisted. Then Claremont were very wasteful with the breeze and left us off the hook somewhat. Our 2nd quarter was pretty poor and we allowed ourselves to be led to the ball by the Tigers. I was amazed really that we were only 2 points down at half time, again Claremont didn't take the best options going forward and Swans defence held up well.

Swans really bossed the 2nd half but our players also wasted opportunities to the extent that it was only Clarkes goal at the 25 minute mark of the last that finally convinced me that we were home. At one stage I thought that some poor decision making and skill execution in front of goals were going to cost us again for a 2nd week in a row but this time we were up against a team who were not good enough to take advantage of this.

I know I said some uncomplimentary things about Doc last week but today he was very good and competed brilliantly against Eastland. His work around the ground including tackling was indicative of the desperation that Swans showed today. Our mids were on top for most of the game, as well as the usual suspects, Cipro and Chipper also added to the dominance. Pina was also very good but our interstate recruits continue to set the tone for the rest of the team. Kohlmann continues to be a good target and opportunist with another 4 goals. Claremont didn't get their usual output from guys like Rogers and Bolton who normally run rings around us.

This win certainly makes up for last week but my concerns about the number of skill errors made by the team during the game still remains, especially with Peel on the horizon next week, who are a team who will punish you for mistakes. Anyway that's the future, at the moment I'm going to enjoy Swans first victory at Claremont since 2013!
Hopefully Alex Howard is OK, he was carried off the ground after being knocked out in the 2nd Quarter. I hope it wasn't too serious an injury

Swans were not favoured to win this match and went in as underdogs.
Apparently paying 2$ 25c for the win whilst Claremont on a dollar 60 or thereabouts I heard on the telegraph.
One third of the Home and Away season has passed already and Claremont in very unfamiliar territory.
If another indicator is any guide, the Tigers coach would be a bit worried at seasons' end if they don't string some
wins together very soon. With each team playing 18 qualifying matches, is only another 3 weeks before the half-way mark of the season.
