Here is the state squad for the Country game v Victoria :(
I cannot understand the mentality of the WAFL having this game in the country
Could of drawn in a huge crowd if played at Leederville.

WHY bother having the game at all?

WAFL STATE SQUAD

Claremont – David Crawford, Anton Hamp, Trinity Handley, Jake Murphy, Ryan Neates, Ian Richardson, Mark Seaby

East Fremantle – Steven Dodd, Rory O’Brien, Andrew Stephen

East Perth – Paul Johnson, Brendan Lee, Garry Moss, Josh Smith, Craig Wulff

Peel Thunder – Paul Bower, Marlon Motlop

Perth – Paul Bevan

South Fremantle – Sean Tighe

Subiaco – Jason Bristow, Brett Mahoney, Jarrod Kayler-Thomson

Swan Districts – Tallan Ames, Tim Geappen, Kyle Hams, Graham Jetta, Wayde Twomey

West Perth – Aaron Black, Steven Browne, Rohan Kerr, Shane Nelson, Andrew Strijk, Jay van Berlo

Couldn't agree more Cardy. It's bloody ridiculous playing it in the country. If it's a fine day and with a bit of promotion the game would have attracted a healthy crowd at Leederville. We are playing the big V not QLD or Tassie, it should be a big event on the WAFL calendar. As you say, why even bother having the match.

Cardy, the other thing is we will have to go another week without any WAFL in the city. There is already an extra bye now because of this stupid Foxtel cup. They are depriving us of football on a weekly basis. We should have had a big day at Leederville against the Vics and maybe got around 6,000 spectators. They will be lucky to get 2,000 in Kal.

Would have thought Chance Bateman would be an automatic inclusion if he is fit to play in the next couple of weeks given his experience on the big stage and Reimers also if he can string a couple of consistent performances together. Another Perthie they should consider is Brett Hodge, always gives 100%, very good tagger, lots of pace and good clean skills.

Pity Leon isn't playing for the Dees, he would have excelled in this game. Anyone know how he's going up at Northam? Dominating one would expect!

Gee East Perth must be travelling ok to have 5 in the squad????
Perth with just 1,state selectors obviously are not rewarding players selection on form.

Hard to argue against Paul Johnson and Josh Smith and I see Brendan Lee is right up there in Stinga's media board. Brennan Stack is one of the form forwards at the moment so he's a chance if he keeps it up but state squads have always had a huge bias towards the team who coaches it. Over recent years Zucconi and McDougall have been very unlucky to miss out.

You are obviously not a Perth supporter, we have been killed by opposition full forwards in the past and 2 years ago McDougall was one of if not the form ruckman in the comp leading up to the state game and his versatility would have been invaluable. It was the game against QLD at Rushton Park and we nearly lost the game.

I am guessing there are quite a few players in this squad who played when we got comprehensively done by Victoria in 2010.

Richardson, Striker and Ames are the only 3 from the squad in 2010 and all deserve to be there ..

Vics had a fair team that day - Blair, Bruest, Hibbard, Crameri, Magner and Faulks have all gone on to play AFL

It does seem a bit bizarre to play the match in Northam. As for the suggestion of playing it at Leedervile - why not play it at Basso or Lathlain? Perhaps we should consider a roster system where the state game is played at each of the WAFL grounds. This would allow all clubs to gain a benefit from the gate etc.

As to the make-up of the state squad and very much tongue in cheek - why don't we just play the entire Claremont team?
