Maybe the hard working WAFL players who give up a large portion of their time to play and train would also love the chance to play at the new Perth Stadium something they may never get to do if not drafted....would be some reward for them?!
Oh and by the way did the Perth Stadium Management (Venues Live) not give the WAFC a free venue (rent free) for the WAFL GF event...I thought that was announced some time back during the negotiations?!

BH what if it's Peel V Subi again for the 3rd year in a row.8000 in a 63,000 seat stadium.Waca???

Don't get ahead of yourself GTX? Whoever it is, will look embarrassing in a 60K stadium.

Totally agree about an empty stadium.Subi got a few more years up top Roman imo.Do you think there on the slide.

gtr...that's a good question. On face value Subi has only lost Liam Ryan, Liam Baker and Twomey from the starting 22 whilst picking up Drew Rohde and Ben Newton, returning premiership players Deluca, Rhys Waters and also Sean Bradley plus a handful of others who'll give depth. The big question for me is where are the goals going to come from? Replacing a 70 goal forward is going to be very hard and either the likes of Sokol, Wheeler, Delahunty will have to step up or Schofield adjusts the forward structure. Fortunately our defence has been the best going around for the last few years so we just have to kick more than the opposition but it's going to be a real challenge that's for sure and I can't see them only dropping one game all year like 2017.

As good as Ryan was BC he had a shocker GF.And probably cost you the GF.More scoring options just means 1 or 2 less players behind the ball.Im sure the coach who declined more AFL offers.Doesnt have a slide down the ladder in the planning.

gtr: correct -- on the basis of his form in the two grand finals I would not have draftted him.

AR...it'll be interesting to see what impact being a full time footballer with all that goes with it will have on his game. I reckon he'll be coached within an inch of his life on what is required to succeed in the AFL as a small/medium forward and guess it'll be up to him to improve....time will tell I guess.

BC -- good post -- I think he will play some league football in the AFL, if they get injuries, because as you pointted out well, they will get him fit. His problem will be the body on body pressure which the defenders will apply, as the Peel defenders did.

I am not knocking Liam of course -- as I have said before he is the greatest 'consistent high mark' for his size I have ever seen.

Dennis Marshall, many years ago explainned the difference bwetween league football here and Victoria:

in WA there are one or two blokes trying to nail you, in Victoria there are three or four. In any case, Marshall coped with the pressure, as he was nammed in Barassi's best 'inter-state 18'.

Ark+BC it's summer preseason.Ryan is training the house down. The big test is the wet winter that doesn't suit his gamestyle.Just hope he plays early in the season.Dont want 2 see him at EastPerth.

I'm not saying that. Just have a look at Subi's list. They have made 18 changes already. That's a new list in itself and that takes away their two most dangerous small forwards. Peel will have a very young list of Freo recruits so they will look totally different as well.

They all train the house down at this time of the pre-season. He'll soon find out the difference in workloads between WAFL and AFL. He has done virtually nothing in two GF's and both times Nyhuis has shut him down.
You will see a fair bit of him at EP next season.

I agree Roman that we'll see a fair bit of him playing for EP...we all forget he's only 21 and will most likely take a year or two to establish himself. I'll be really pissed off when he plays for the ferals against Subi as I haven't got a clue who we'd match up on him.
