I was speaking to a reliable source on the weekend who informed me that REIWA and Kennards HIRE have pulled their sponsorship of Ch 7's WAFL coverage throwing coverage for next season in doubt unless new sponsors can be found. Kennards have jumped off and onto West Coast. Not sure of REIWA's reasoning.
Interesting times ahead

How long had they signed for, I thought the entire package including Maccas had 1 year still to run.

Maybe its at the end of next season.

Otherwise if its true and they cant find anyone else, its good bye TV coverage, which will be terrible news.

I was told REIWA and Kennards are finished with it, no extra details as it was fresh news, see what develops.
Wouldn't have had these issues with the ABC because if it did go, it will e gone forever. Having said that I reckon someone else will jump on

If that's true then it looks like I won't have to worry about compiling the questions for the telecasts next year.

Exactly Sd. Because the current Wafl tv telecasting contract has expired. I'm under the impression the current commercial telecaster had 3 years. Starting in Twenty 15, to 16 and the third year of twenty 17. Meaning the 3 year tv deal has now expired. The above mentioned sponsors obviously not interested any longer and will not commit to the new tv telecaster. I for one would be happy when the new telecaster comes on board. Or if we're lucky, maybe the abc tv could be talked into doing their excellent Wafl telecasts again. Would be better than the meaningless dribble over the past 3 seasons.
The only question is, who will be the new telecaster of the Wafl from next season? The 2 above mentioned sponsors will more likely be replaced. Or perhaps, several or half a dozen sponsors will join the new telecaster.

If the 3 year deal is up then that's it, Maccas will also be gone not just the two minor ones, well not gone but will need to sign up for another 1 Mill and then find another two supporting sponsors,
It wont matter who picks it up Ch 9 10 or 7 they will all need sponsors to broadcast it, they are commercial ventures that are in it to make a quid, if 7 cant find them than neither will they, I cant see Ch 10 picking it up just in WA. Forget the ABC they are done and dusted with footy and just about all sport - they pulled out not they other way around.

There is a good reason it has been on 7, the AFL broadcast partners did what the AFL wanted and gave it minimum coverage.
If you think another channel will be allowed to broadcast it then you will be wrong, the AFL will firmly instruct the WAFC to not allow another channel to market the WAFL and pump it up.
If 7 don't put it on I think the WAFL broadcast days are over.
The AFL pull the strings.

C7 ran the show. Who wouldn't be pissed off watching a season ruined by Freo in the finals. Its all about Freo & west Coast. Nothing else minds.. Just check the crowds at the matches. WAFL is dead.

My observations if this is true are as follows:

(i) G Taylor should either do the honourable thing or be sacked effective immediately; and
(ii) clubs with major long term relationships like Swans with Steel Blue should be VERY, VERY concerned and endeavour to wrap up long term deals.
