Faark ooorf BC, you know very well I have had a strong voice on this topic for many years, todays result is just a culmination of everyones combined views on this very thread. Its all very well for you to pipe up as your lot have (and I will say it again) contributed heavily toward the shambles of a competition we now have, throw in the alignment sides and it is a recipe for disaster. You $ubi people can blow wind up your own arses and brush the topic under the carpet all day long but the publics overwhelming distain over your ethics tells the story. Rack up those flags now mate because if the WAFL survives another 20 years you blokes will be on the bones of your arse again and you will get nowt from me again!

I don't like the alignment either but you can hardly blame the WAFC for a loss of 15 goals to a team that sits directly below you. that to me sounds like a lack of application by the players, the coach not getting the message through or just not enough talent. did perth get spanked today by Claremont because of the WAFC? I don't think so. perth is a basket case and has been for 40 years...their members should be just about ready to storm the barricades to gets some changes made internally and you lot need to regroup and have a good hard look at yourselves. as I said earlier, you were in a GF less that 2 years ago so what's changed between now and then?

Spot on BC, Perth hadnt played in a grand final for about 13 years before the WAFC even came into existence, to blame them for their 40 years of being a basket case typifies why Perth will never prosper. As much as I dislike them the fact is without the handouts via the WAFC none of our clubs would be keeping the lights on and that probably goes more to Perth than any other club given their total lack of success. I dont think there would be another club in the comp whos membership that would of tolerated the decades of incompetence dished up by the PFC, without as BC tearing the barricades down years ago.

I think back to the farce at Subiaco in 1983-- they sacked the coach mid season and then the players threatened to go on strike to have him re-instated; bloody pathetic. Had we gone on strike we would have been kikcked out of the league and rightly so.

Wish we could turn that clock back to 1983 for a lot of reasons

:P :P :P got that right SD, first thing I would do is stop my old man from handing over $100 to keep the pricks alive.

58shark wrote: It's a real mess, isn't it? On one hand you have the WAFC telling us the comp is healthy and on the other, supporters are slowly disappearing because they are discontented. As people have said, we have one team buying flags year after year, another team aligning with the WCE thinking they'll start collecting flags (ala 2000 to 03) and a team with no history, character or supporters winning an ersatz flag. Really, what footy loving person could be interested in investing time and money in a failed competition where the leaders are Daffy Duck, Wile E Coyote and Mr Magoo? I really love my club and the WAFL that was and always will, but the idiots leading this comp are really testing my loyalties.

Really well said 58 and I am at the exact point you are if not a little ahead of you. The greatest concern is the players are starting to lose interest more importantly. I mentioned previously that I know a number of players that have plenty of footy ahead of them but are going to pursue travel or play with mates at a lower level or get some $$$ at Country level because the (ROI) return on investment (their invested time and commitment) is lop sided by the likes of $ubi and the alignment sides. What are the percentages of you winning a flag if you are not affiliated with the above 3 ...............Fark all !!!

It's hard to see $ubi ever not being a top four side, even if they did lose their financial situation they have made that much dough they are surely set for a long, long time. They'll probably get some new "compensation" deal out of the new stadium anyway. When you combine such a massive financial advantage with such a well run and set up club you get extreme dominance.
It's boring alright

Compensation deal? what sort of deal are you thinking of TOO? Might be a bit hard as the WAFC have no control over the new stadium, they have to go cap in hand to get some sort of deal to play there and the rest is government handouts. How is that shiny new facility going down at Tigerland and how much of it was taxpayer/ratepayer funded?

WAFC still bumming off the tax payer - hard to stop when you've been on welfare since 1989.

The government will make a hell of a lot more out of the Claremont oval redevelopment than the ten million they put in, much more, blind Freddie could see that. Simple economics, and there's nothing stopping any of the other clubs doing the same thing.
And how are those taxpayer/ratepayer funded grandstands going at Subiaco oval?

If the tax payer gets a return , that's all well and good, its when they get taken for a ride that's the problem.
Those days are over, the State is bust. Football will have to pay its own way going forward.
