Your right he was 13 and it was a reserved match. Whilst I believe that allowing Bennell to qualify for Peel finals by just listing him and not playing him reserves is totally against the spirit of the game. It seems to me the only distinction is that Peel may get a short term benefit whilst Swans were hoping for a long term benefit with Phil Narkle. It was a punt worth taking and it paid off bigtime.




I was wondering when Phil Narkle's name would crop up on this topic. As SS said I believe he was 13 at the time. It needs to be placed in the context of his older brother and was in no way an attempt to qualify for finals in dubious circumstances. And I suspect that G Logue's name might be mentioned but it would also be out of context and not even remotely similar.

One of the differences between the earlier Freo and the West Coast Eagles was that they had a soul; that is rapidly reducing to the situation where they are both tarred with the same brush. What Freo is doing with respect to Bennell is mirroring their actions of last year. It was contemptible then and is equally contemptible now. And of course the gutless, insipid, lily-livered, fawning and sycophantic WAFC will do nothing as per usual.

Over time most teams have pushed the rules envelope for their own gains, Swans have with narkle & Logue, Subi got bagged on here for working the points system, delisting players etc to keep within the cap, so lets not get too precious about that, but, the Bennell issue is something quite different, the level of sinicism involved is beyond the pale, freo and peel didn't even attempt to polish this steaming turd of a scam by at least suiting Bennell up and sitting him on the bench, no they arrogantly sat him in the coaches box which is as good as saying stuff youse all we'll do what we want coz we are AFL. It's right up there with Leedervillegate.

I have had a look at the fixtures and the Peel Alignment side have got some difficult games ahead. They play the Demons and Sharks, games you could probablly pencil in, but the rest are against S, SF, EP, and SD. Look away Lions supporters, we could really do with the Tigers knocking off Subi in Esperance this week.

The fixtures are strange because we are down to play Peel three times away by the end of the season. How is it that Perth have played three times in Fremantle in the last month? That is right, twice at Old Easts and once at South.

Turn it up. Sounds like paranoia has crept in. Here's the facts of the matter

Harley is currently not fit to play. Hopefully he will be within a few weeks. The club is giving him every opportunity to play late in the season if fit. That may mean finals at a WAFL level. Its about a guy being able to play football when he is fit.

so which club takes priority RD? Peel or Freo? I think I know the answer to that given Peel are prepared to play one short.

Double win for Peel too....Bennell is 1/5 closer to playing in the WAFL finals and Peels reserves won even tho they were one short.....knowing Bennell though he will still find a way to get injured just sitting in the coaches box....

Its dodgy picking a player knowing full well they arent going to play...even when they are suited up and have ran out on to ground....not too sure how this is different TBH...the bottom line is both sides had no intention what so ever of playing any of those guys mentioned above in those respective games....at least Peel weren't being sneaky about it and insulting folks intelligence with the bleedin obvious......both as under hand as each other.....disappointing for the particular player who missed out on a game of footy in all those respective games......wish folk from those two clubs just be honest and say what their club did was morally wrong and not within the spirit of the game....you pick a side with all n sundry expecting that listed side to play.....why all the hidden agenda's.....its a game of footy for farks sake....

Patently obvious they want to qualify a player that may gain an advantage - everyone else would have simply given an opportunity to a youngster due to the withdrawal
WAFC doesn't have the integrity to stop this backdoor rubbish - not a good look for the game seeing different bench sizes , how would you explain this shit to someone watching the game for the first time ???

Pretty sure I said what Peel did was dodgy....just got your goat up 42, by saying what SD did with Logue and Narkle was really no different....actually think it is wrong what both clubs did, unlike you...

Any way mate I have had plenty of practice finding other activities to fill in my weekends of late....unlike you...... where it appears the WAFL has been the be all and end all of your mere existence every winter since Grassy's beloved footy team won a flag........think you would struggle to cope more than me mate...

Though I do plan to take my youngest to see his first SD game this weekend whilst here in Perth...could of easily been a short sighted selfish prick and taken him to see my team EF play Perth...but hey just to show I do care..... I am taking him to Freo oval instead.....it is only a game of footy come end of the day eh 42?.....regardless of who is playing or in SD and Peel's philosophy.... NOT playing..
