Good discussion.

I'm on Claremont 87 as well. Derek Kickett's season was phenomenal, I think he missed 3 matches as well with the suspension that cost him the Sandover, could have been ever further in front. Krakouer's season in 2010 wasn't far behind at all.

Claremont 89, Subi 08 and even Subi's team from last year (based mostly on their defensive efforts) honourable mentions

Grassy: I am with you; I would put the traditional and commercial name up together; it is good that you have raised things with them in the past, as have many others on here; your not alone, believe me.

More remarks on the thread: I am sticking with the 1987 blue and gold side; the 1989 side, by comparison, lost two games to Subiaco, a club which won only six games for the season.

It really has to be split into different eras. In 1987 there was an eight team wafl with a thirteen team afl so it was a far stronger competition than now.
Kicketts season in 87 was amazing, can anyone recall why he wasn't playing vfl in 88? Did the Eagles have recruiting rights to wafl players and Todd simply chose not to recruit him?

I will never forget watching him as a teenager in the early 80's running riot on Leederville oval until one day John Wynne decided he wasn't good enough for WP & let him go..

From memory dont think Toddy was a fan of DK like John Wynne. In 1988 DK played in the SANFL which was a fantastic competition in the 1980"s.
Then North Melbourne recruited BK,then Essendon and the famous departure and played in Sydneys 1996 GF V NM.
