Is the Claremont side of the late 1980s the pinnacle?
Indeed, the club had a dominant decade.

Ken Judege's EF side?

What about the WP side which broke the drought?

The EP which nearly broke the drought?

How do you rate the EP alignment side?

Where does Germans' Subiaco side sit in the post 1987 history?

What about the South side which ended Subiaco's run?

I would be interested to read people's thoughts on those questions and many more from the post 1986 era.

Subi 08 easy. All season only one loss & that was by 1pt which possibly just scraped in just before the final siren

no side post 86 would get within 5-6 goals of the Claremont 87 side.

Ben Allan, Don Pyke, Guy McKenna, Derek Kickett all went on to decorated careers and were quality WAFL players before that.
Neesham was a star, Goulding was a top WAFL player along with Thorne and Hann and then Ralphy at full-forward.
nobody from the Subi 08 side would get anywhere near the 1st 4 players I listed.

Not far off the mark Olly, I remember we beat SF by 210 points (still the official record winning score outside of the under age comp during the war years) and we played CL the next week and lost by 98 points !!!

all of those you mentioned went on to be very good players at the highest level MO but in 1987 they were only very good players at WAFL level. so don't compare subsequent careers to what was happening at the time as Subi towelled Claremont up in 1988 by a similar margin to the the drubbing they gave us in 1987.

Kickett finished 16 votes in front in the Sandover in 1987 and went to Centrals in 1988.
it was the best season by a player post 1986, pretty sure he was a bit more than a very good player at WAFL level that year.
my opinion is they were a better side in 87 than Subi in 2008, couldn't care less what you think to be honest.

That Claremont team of 87 might have given Subi of 86 and EF of 85 a run too probably, Krakouers year in 2010 would rival Kicketts as best yr by a player post 86
