After a chat with a prominent WAFL ressies coach over about 20 beers last week we talked about early ladder predictions. Based mainly on what he told me but also both our thoughts, here is our Christmas ladder prediction - obviously way too early really but something to pass time away

$ubiaco
West Perth
Claremont
East Perth
Swan Dist

Perth
South Frem
Peel
East Frem

He did go on to say similar to last year is that there will be bugger all between 2nd and 8th, so it will be a chop up for most of the year - big improver = Perth with 9 wins. We spoke at length about East Frem, and I was surprised at his thoughts, but they made some sense, and South yet another underachieving year (I had them in the 5)
I`m not sure how many beers we had both consumed up to this point though
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Tough to predict so far out but I was surprised how low you put Peel, I would think they would finish top 5 given a reasonable run with injuries for Freo. I think also the Sharks may get a lease of life with their new coaching regime. As you said, the competition will be very tight next year. Even Subiaco may come back to the field if they struggle to maintain their motivation after two flags in a row. I am hoping that Perth rise up the ladder as I think the WAFL competition would benefit from having every team being in the hunt for finals till late in the season.

I reckon it will be an interesting season as all sides have lost a few but gained replacements. I can only speak with any knowledge on Subi and think the loss of Menegola will hurt but given he missed the first 11 games of 2015 think we'll be ok picking up Cockie in the midfield and Broughton as an attacking back/defensive mid will offset it to some extent. The emerging Declan Jackson will cover for Rumble to some extent and it remains to be seen if Grimley is as effective as Boland.

So for mine:

Subi
Claremont
SD
EP
Peel

raffle the rest.

You must of had a truck load to wheel out the most tired line in WAFL history...Perth the big improver...epic fail year in year out.

Well I honestly believe they will improve after a summer of recruiting that has been more fruitful than previous it seems. I dont think you will find any WAFL fans that dont want to see Perth rise up, the comp needs it as they pull good crowds sometimes around 3500/4k even when anchored to the bottom
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

If injury free early and some early wins Claremont will be hard to toss

Ryan Davis is a huge loss for us but hopefully Crowley can be half as good, he should be good in his defensive pressure - hopefully playing centre and forward of centre, but we will still have one of the better and more experienced defensive units in the comp which is almost the most important element to building a successful team
