Or for grounds where there are not many businesses - residents instead. Could win a corporate/sponsors box seat the following week

Canvas local businesses in the areas of the grounds about flying the clubs colours on game days to promote the game. Give a prize, say of free promotion the following home game during the match and handing out leaflets of the winning business that went to the most effort. Even supply those businesses with streamers, posters, flags, posters or whatever to put up to make it easier. Have leaflets promoting the games in those businesses. Can you imagine in Subi's case walking up Oxford or Vincent St and seeing a few club colours flying? Unaware people might even be inclined to ask what it's about. If more people come to the footy the businesses also might get more business due to more people in the area.

That's a good one mate.

That could be expanded too.

The shopping centres in our zone like Carine Glades, Kingsway City, Nollamara, Warwick Grove, Fieldgate Square, Stirling Gate, etc

Same applies for all the WAFL clubs. Shopping centres in Kalamunda, Midland, Bassendean, High Wycombe, Maida Vale, Darlington etc, for Swans and so on.

Hi all....for what it's worth here is my 2 cents worth. It's getting to the stage where going to football in general is expensive. The cost of admission, food, drinks etc can cost a family of 4 a small fortune. I appreciate that kids under the age of 16(??) get in for free if they are with an adult, but surely the WAFC could look at either reducing the admission price and leaving the food the same or vice versa. Another option would be to allow junior club or multiple clubs (any sporting / community persuasion) to operate a sausage sizzle or similar at each game, similar to that at Bunnings.

Fair call.

What about also, the WAFL allows children under 18 in for free instead of only children under 16 as is currently.

It seems a bit rough charging kids who are attending year 11 and 12 full admission price - even if they do have a part time job at Coles or whatever.

At that age (From memory) any money you do have goes on chicks. :silly:

Cheers Swandog, you are a true WAFL supporter.

Yeah, the best five ideas as decided by some kind of vote, I'm going to ask 9 posters here, who have some kind of relationship with their club, to email the marketing person responsible.

Let's give it a couple of weeks and see what we come up with.

What I don't understand is, why some "so called" WAFL supporters are saying we are F****d already. Are they internet trolls, AFL pretenders or just people who have had an easy life and don't appreciate a challenge when it presents itself?

Getting an extra 144 people per game! That's all we require this year.

A bit general there LH. I can see where people can lay down and cop it, even though I don't think we should. The fact is, we are not just fighting the eagles and or the dorks. We're fighting the AFL and the WAFC - pretty hard to fight a force like that. Still, we could make this our Long Tan

Yeah, we're fighting against the odds but I part of me enjoys that.

But it's not that tough.

I spent some time in Argentina for cricket reasons.

Getting kids involved in a sport that was mainly foreign to them was a real challenge. Ok, yes, the PSA kids there had cricket as one of their sports and it was a tradition at those schools but the kids in the other schools/districts usually have to be shown which end of the bat to hold. Then you have to show them how to bowl without throwing (No cricket on TV as a reference). Then you have to convince them that cricket is a game they should stick with even though their friends all play soccer, rugby or field hockey.

Now that is a genuine challenge.

Yet, there are kids coming through like Lautaro Musiani, Pedro Arrighi, Alejo Tissera and Martin Rost to mention just a few, that are representing their country and developing into the real deal.

Whenever I get disheartened by the WAFL I just think back to those days in Buenos Aires.

Looks like there's a new batch coming through as well. Photo from Lautaro Musiani. Great kid. He's off to England to break into the County scene later in the year and I reckon he'll make it too.

Cheers mate. He's a good lad. Bowls leg-spin about as good as any kid I've seen at 17. Even has his own cricinfo profile already. www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/414048.html

But yeah, that shops idea is a winner mate. I wonder if any team posters are being made this season.
