Get the two AFL clubs that now are a part of the WAFL to promote the WAFL.
Let the 7 non aligned clubs sell raffle tickets at AFL games.

No need for other idea's, until this happens what clubs do will not be enough.

Excellent gws...now that the 2 AFL clubs own 2 WAFL teams, surely it's in their best interest to promote the game and not just the clubs they own??? They need the 7 WAFL clubs, because it's not as if they're going to be able to recruit a lot from their reserves teams.

It's the other 1.81 million people in Perth that don't attend any AFL or WAFL at all that we need to target.

Including those and there are many that simply cannot afford an AFL membership ticket, the cost of beers and food etc at an AFL game.

Another great point. This is where the WAFL can get an edge on the AFL. Going to a WAFL game is a great experience, a cheap day out for the family and less of a hassle - parking/access/nearly dickheadless. For God's sake, why don't the WAFC start TV advertising showing the benefits of a local game????

The reason why 58shark is because TV advertising costs $$$$ & the WAFC would rather see those $$$$ go towards more WCE & Freo overseas junkets to "check out" frickin EPL & NFL games!!

Just to go one step further. This idea may be a bit out there but would it not be simple enough to have had a Wafl tv show broadcast on one of the stations? Or is that too difficult to do nowadays? Maybe a half hour show on a Wednesday evening could have been broadcast statewide? Or is it pie in the sky stuff? It's obviously a bit late now, but a no frills basic type of Wafl news, summaries of the previous round, maybe an interview or two, preview of the next round etcetera for a Wafl tv show? Or are the tv stations only interested in broadcasting the crap that's usually all over the screen? I'm not suggesting the Wafl was made into a silly media circus like other sports. No, no, not suggesting that at all! But 95% of houses have a television, and I would have thought a quality straight talking type of tv show covering Wafl games and news should have been broadcasting during the season. That would have been one good way to get the Wafl message out there, surely?

Some cracking ideas in this thread..perhaps someone like La Hinchi could document them and send them to Dorro or someone, plus club presidents and marketing people. Some of them do read Ozfooty though

Cheers Swandog, you are a true WAFL supporter.

Yeah, the best five ideas as decided by some kind of vote, I'm going to ask 9 posters here, who have some kind of relationship with their club, to email the marketing person responsible.

Let's give it a couple of weeks and see what we come up with.

What I don't understand is, why some "so called" WAFL supporters are saying we are F****d already. Are they internet trolls, AFL pretenders or just people who have had an easy life and don't appreciate a challenge when it presents itself?

Getting an extra 144 people per game! That's all we require this year.

Yep people like Bazza aka Swans and South are very negative indeed, we have to promote the point of difference and targetting fans other than the 80k Weagles and Dorkers is a great idea!

They used to play adds at 1/4 and 1/2 time at the eagles and dockers games for WAFL..do they still play them?

Here's one.
Canvas local businesses in the areas of the grounds about flying the clubs colours on game days to promote the game. Give a prize, say of free promotion the following home game during the match and handing out leaflets of the winning business that went to the most effort. Even supply those businesses with streamers, posters, flags, posters or whatever to put up to make it easier. Have leaflets promoting the games in those businesses. Can you imagine in Subi's case walking up Oxford or Vincent St and seeing a few club colours flying? Unaware people might even be inclined to ask what it's about. If more people come to the footy the businesses also might get more business due to more people in the area.
