As a matter of interest with your proposal what is the impact to the:

(i) colts' and reserves' fixture;
(ii) other competitions with respect to supplementing the two WA domiciled AFL clubs' reserves' team?

Swan42, I am thinking of my club the EPFC. I just want them back. I would think you would have the same attitude as me if Swan Districts aligned with the Eagles. All I know is I miss EP, and I think back to when we had seasons of floggings & struggle, I still went home knowing I had watched my club as 100% East Perth. With all the rough edges. That's what I want, with or without success.

I cant answer the colts & reserves question, other than I suspect that comp will keep rolling with 9 clubs as normal, same with the colts unless down the track a WCE 17's development side is added perhaps, I don't know.

All I know is we cant keep thinking the AFL players will ever be spread out across all sides. It just wont happen. So the alternative is what they have done in the SANFL, and it seems to be working far better there than it is here. So to say it cant work is nonsense. It does in SA. I know its not ideal, but its a far better alternative.

Just understand my view is a result of losing my own club. Imagine yourself in my shoes and then truly see how you would feel. You probably have to be in it to fully understand where Im coming from. I will stick by my view and say bring it on.

Jardine if Swans had got in bed with the Eagles I would have walked away as Swans would have ceased to exist. Putting that into context: I have been a Swans' supporters since the 1960s and of our 60 games this year I think I have missed 1 colts' and 1 reserves' game only.

where the extra players going to come from to field two entire teams every week.

1 team not 2.

Why ....wont the eagles be playing in the AFL now?

bazza it's a easy solution look at the sanfl. The crows and port do not have colts. The crows do not have a reserves team but port do.The SANFL has a ten league comp. The reserves a 9 team comp. The colts a 8 team comp. All three comps have a 18 game season.they have some split rounds so that they can get the reserves comp back into alignment by the last round.Beacuse the crows do not have a reserves side they have to play all there players both league and rookies that are available. They also have a top up list of players from community footy.they have to be under 23 and not have played sanfl for at least 18 months. The crows also play as the away team against the traditional clubs. They finsihed 7th this year one win out of the five.It is amazing how sophiticated the south aussies are.

The obese President and Dicky Bird wont let it happen as they laud fraudulent success not the hard earned variety!

Have had the radio turned on most of the day. Not heard anything about this story at all on any of the news bulletins/ talkback shows. There was a story relating to the Wafl in the todays worst, but on a different matter.

You still get the farcical situation in finals time where you get the afl teams who are fielding much weaker than usual teams like peel are this week. To have clubs playing finals and not actually caring about the result is a joke.

Just needs to be two different competitions.

The traditional WAFL with the 8 teams playing the other 7 twice for a 16 round comp and a top 4 in the WAFL premiership league.

The traditional WAFL clubs would also - throughout the season - play the Mandurah Dockers and the (Looks like) Lathlain Eagles twice.

This would be in an entirely different competition. A competition with good money for the team ending up on the top of the ladder.

Could be called the BHP cup or whatever.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Crying over spilt milk is what is going to happen now.

A/man for the record: what was the vote for and against the the WA domiciled AFL clubs have a reserves' team in the WAFL? Also, could you please tell me the date that said vote occurred?

Like 10 WAFL Teams.Everyone plays twise both home and away.East Perth have no troubles surviving without the alignment.Peel are another story, hope they stay with Freo.
In the SANFL the Crows and Port Adelaide alignment sides have there AFL listed players. The rest of the teams are made up of UNDER 23 Players. That has to be the benchmark that we should use in WA.

Do you mean that the rest of Ports and the Crows SANFL teams are made up of U23 players?
