East Perth back as East Perth
Peel with Freo (who cares anyway)
Same model as the SANFL.
Even fixture.

Should have been done at the beginning, rather than the shambles we have today. I hope it happens. Would love EP back & get that rivalry with WP back to what it should be. Not the pretend version we have today.

East Perth must give the club back to the supporters. Hopefully WCE do the right thing and start planning their own WAFL side. Maybe then they will have their own supporters coming to the WAFL games, considering the side will be called the Eagles, not East Perth. Ring the Crows and find out how its done.

Like it or not the traditional 8 team comp is gone. This is a far better alternative and must be done. Would be better for TV too.

Jardine NO it should not have happened in the past and it should NOT HAPPEN in the future.

As a matter of interest with your proposal what is the impact to the:

(i) colts' and reserves' fixture;
(ii) other competitions with respect to supplementing the two WA domiciled AFL clubs' reserves' team?

What happens when the eagles want to "rest" 11 players. like Lyon does.

their WAFL team must just forfeit or play with 5 people.

where the extra players going to come from to field two entire teams every week.

If you think they'll rely on Amateurs or country league top ups you're kidding yourself

The colts will be again drawn from us that's where mate - we are basically just breeding sows now that this has been forced in

The two scumbags will have elite system talent ready to go as needed

And you think that the VFL gives a fark about that mate??? or the two inbreds for that matter????

Have a quick glance at what's transpiring now

Late edit: The ONLY VFL interest in WA footy is the National U18 comp & the potential Bacon-fest that comes out of it for drafting time

And the report may not even be true. Wouldn't be the first time the media have reported wrongly.

If the story is true, I will be pleased and will see the colts from the past years get a chance to play at the level they deserve without being forced to play at lower levels on decision made elsewhere.

The issue for EP is now to keep the players they currently have and put in place a structure that allows for further development both on the field and off.

My concern is and will always be that we got back to the days of buying players and not allowing our own talent to develop and have a pathway into and with the WAFL.

The concern raised by the CEO and Chairman was that we could not afford the continuing costs associated with running of the club, easy don't buy players and then have to exorbitant payments.

We have a group of players that given the chance they will be competitive in all three grades, might not win to many premierships but what will change!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Swan42, I am thinking of my club the EPFC. I just want them back. I would think you would have the same attitude as me if Swan Districts aligned with the Eagles. All I know is I miss EP, and I think back to when we had seasons of floggings & struggle, I still went home knowing I had watched my club as 100% East Perth. With all the rough edges. That's what I want, with or without success.

I cant answer the colts & reserves question, other than I suspect that comp will keep rolling with 9 clubs as normal, same with the colts unless down the track a WCE 17's development side is added perhaps, I don't know.

All I know is we cant keep thinking the AFL players will ever be spread out across all sides. It just wont happen. So the alternative is what they have done in the SANFL, and it seems to be working far better there than it is here. So to say it cant work is nonsense. It does in SA. I know its not ideal, but its a far better alternative.

Just understand my view is a result of losing my own club. Imagine yourself in my shoes and then truly see how you would feel. You probably have to be in it to fully understand where Im coming from. I will stick by my view and say bring it on.

History has shown (and again in this case) the alignment to be a failure!
If the news report is true, it sounds like we'll have one club returned.
Some kind of mechanism NEEDS to be put in place to stop this stupid debacle from ever, NEVER happening again. This being of paramount importance!

100% right Jardine.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!
