The biggest problem with pulling out of the CH7 deal is compensation for the generous sponsors.Mcdonalds,Reiwa,Kennards.AHG...Hope i havnt missed any sponsors.
This Channel 7 telecast has increased ratings but not telecast every week,so its only a sideway step.Imo Wafl belongs on Abc or Channel 9 where theres no clash with Afl broadcasts. Does anybody have an idea how much $ the Abc would need to go digital.
To not have the finals televised is a disaster for WA footy. To have the side 2nd on the ladder not being televised is a bigger disaster. Clearly our Wafl doesnt have a long term future with CH7.Someone at the commission needs to start forward planning.

You obviously believe the WAFC stats peanut.
Tell me how they could increase 160% in audience when people just watched the game?
So you saying the viewing audience has almost doubled...
Why is that with the limited games they show and the telecast being pathetic to say the least in the 2 games I watched.

Cardy you stated that you wonder how Barnett would feel about the commission spending a million dollars when they have run at a loss for years and the public is funding them? Well that strategy seems to be straight out of the Barnett coaching manual!

Even as a diehard WP supporter, CH7 taking over the telecast is better for WAFL footy exposure. Take away the bullshit regarding the sponsorship debacle, it is as obvious as the nose on your face that people channel searching will scan past CH7 well before CH2, hence increasing awareness as many people would be inquisitive and watch a bit of WAFL.

If that happens I will boycott going to any finals and all others should too including the clubs boycotting the finals and see how the WAFC like that with no fuckin games to televise

In relation to the ABC I agree it was a far better product than the stuff being thrown up by 7 at the minute but I also have a recollection that the ABC were pulling the pin on broadcasting the WAFL due to funding and small audiences..so I guess having 7 step into the breach is better than nothing.

Could it be that Ch 7 have scheduled the televised game as a lead in to their AFL broadcasts? That, imho has a lot to do with the increase in viewer numbers. It makes it easy for an AFL fan to sit down for an hour or two earlier and watch some good local footy prior to the AFL circus.

That was a reason BC for sure, but we are talking about Aunty on a Saturday afternoon in winter. Not much rates on the ABC at that time. I would bet replacing the football with a show about historical tea makers of the 1800's wont fix their ratings slot either. There was a time only a few years ago when WAFL crowds & interest started to rise, so to did the ABC ratings. But not long after everything went on a decline due to foreseeable speculation and confirmation that the WAFL was to lose a huge chunk of credibility due to alignments etc.

Channel 7 have been promoting themselves as the long time WAFL broadcasters which they were in the heyday. But this false advertising by cuddling up to the WAFL and saying "Local Footy is Back on Seven" bulldust, then saying they will not broadcast the Grand Final if West Perth are in it, just reeks of pure cold hearted selfishness, and shows an insecurity beyond belief. Do Channel 7 think we don't know about Channel 9, and that this "new" station called 9 will make us change to it if we see a bloody logo on a footy jumper?

I recall watching regular cricket highlights on channel 7 news during the summer. And with that we see the Channel 9 logo in the corner constantly. What is the bloody difference?

Thanks channel 7. We have basically spent the whole season talking about this crap at the expense of a season. It has diminished everything somewhat and taken alot of the focus off the game itself, when the game is desperate for some stabilisation. Channel 7 was supposed to be that beacon of hope to help get things back on track do a degree. All they have done is cast a cloud of negativity across the whole comp, and for what? To stick it up Channel 9 and a football club fighting for a sponsor that is keeping its 120 year history alive?

Well done 7. I bet your executives are strutting around like pigeons with their chests out. Weak as piss as far as Im concerned.

Well what stats are you actually reliant on? oh thats right NONE.

They have been confirmed by the league and Ch 7 , that is the increase buddy, like it or lump it its a fact, and it would be very easy to get more than double factoring your beloved ABC was down to 10,000 viewers on a weekend, ABC TV figures had plummeted over the years. Which was one of the reason they pulled the pin on it.

Do you actually have a clue what your craping on about?
