Might sit in the area of a club bringing the game in to disrepute but in this instance it would take a super idiotic meglomaniacal commissioner to go down that path as it would be a stretch of the highest imagination.

Wonder what the legalities of it all would be?
Simply cannot see how West Perth could be removed from the Finals series for bringing the game into disrepute or any other excuse? They have been a shining light for the competition. West Perth would probably have the highest attendance figures. The club has been very innovative.
In all seriousness, how about the commission be removed?

Maybe not - there'd be copy write on that one

If anyone can produce the actual by-law to read here I'm sure many would be interested.

I'm trying to word it without saying to much. I can tell you blokes as my arse points to the ground that the WAFC has the right to stop West Perth playing in the finals and it has been brought to the clubs attention. There are two final games that the WAFC is concerned about. I believe that Channel Seven will not televise those games if West Perth appear rather than stop them from playing.

I'm not going to SPIT IT OUT. I was told about this issue at the start of the season and also was told two weeks ago. I was told by a very reliable source. All I have said is that there is an option that the WAFC has.

Furthermore, is there any example or precident in world sport where a qualified team has been removed by its league from finals participation simply to appease the whims of one of its sponsors? Being that this same sponsor also backs one of the opposition teams in the same league it could only be viewed as fixing of the competition. Forget salary cap breaches, debatable allotments of player points, even the ridiculous reality of the current alignment system, if WP were removed from playing finals based simply on the wishes of broadcaster Ch7 it will be the "Darkest day in the history of West Australian Sport." Ch7 ....be careful what you wish for!!!!

Totally agree with all your points D.W. Growler may be right that its all bluff. Like Brett said, we haven't made the finals yet, its all premature to discuss the what ifs.

Rest assured even the clowns within the WAFC are not that DELUSIONAL that they would even contemplate removing West Perth from the WAFL finals. Any suggestion from the WAFC or their lawyers that West Perth could be removed from the WAFL finals should be treated with nothing less than COMPLETE and UTTER CONTEMPT.

This situation is completely the responsibility of the WAFC. It is an absolute joke that Channel 7 can dictate in the way they are and it is a damning indictment on the WAFC.

I clearly remember when channel 9 telecast the AFL, in the first game of their first year, they telecast a game from Etihad. All along the front of the second tier was a long line of "7 News" advertising boards. The cameras just avoided showing it but you could see it from time to time during the game. So the solution is simple. For the West Perth finals games, just get the cameras to avoid filming any West Perth players.
