Reports are the WAFC are looking at financial cuts to the WAFL, these include reducing the payments WAFL clubs receive for players drafted, also looking at $50,000 contibution from each WAFL club to assist in the televising of WAFL games to cover the loss of ABC and the withdrawal of interest from Maguire media (not too mention the stuff up of prefering 7 and ignoring 9's efforts), the reduction of $$ from Paterson's, and the WAFC/AFL dream project...an elite under 18's .....mmmm thought that's what the Colts competition was?
The cynic in me thinks....thank God Doro wants a job all will be well....
Almost forgot, haven't the WAFL clubs already done their budgeting for the upcoming season????? :S

Yeah, I think the WAFC lost money last FY for the first time in ages, revenues from WCE and FFC are dropping, and as you say Patersons have left the deal at Subi and now they have to pay for 7 with no ABC.

Shambles, the dough on this fiasco will run out pretty quick.

They could start by removing 50 odd jobs at the WAFC which are simply jobs for the boys. The biggest cost to footy these days is admin, it should be the smallest cost in footy.

some bloke called Tom Boyd who has played 7 afl games signs a 7 year 7 million dollar contract with a club who continually runs at a loss and continually gets propped up financially, yet the wafl clubs have to take pay cuts. so this bloke is earning the equivalent of what 4 entire wafl clubs players earn over the next 7 years. yeah that's fair!

Spot on Tiger. We may only have a few years left if this crap keeps up. Not another dollar to north Melbourne, St Kilda or WB either for mine. All the money these clubs get should be spread evenly amongst the state leagues.

And I don't want to here people bang on about tv rights. The tv rights are going south with 9 games a week because 5 of them have clubs playing that no one gives a rats arse about.

15 teams playing the other 14 twice for a 28 round season - no byes.
North to GC. WB to GWS, St to the VFL

Strong state leagues where players get paid 40 to 100 k a year and there are 3 to 7 thousand at each game.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Dead right about the TV ratings, the ratings went south this year big time, as did attendances, at least the AFL has finally realised games on Sunday and Monday nights are total duds.

I wonder if the Premier and government could chip in with some money; the decision to build the new ground may cost WA football dearly in the long-run; it will be that part of WA football which matters most too, as others have pointed out.

Who will be the first WAFL club to withdraw from the competition, and apply to play in the Ammos?
