I was dragged to Leederville oval from when I was about 5 back in 1955.. Liked the chips and being allowed to scream out a lot. The days of Blue Foley,Marinko's,Dempsey,Lucev
France, Whinnen just to mention a few..
Remember the Leederville grandstand being full and the outer full in most games.

Today the Leederville large stand was over Half empty!

So Supporters leave the WAFL clubs as they will when they see the Home and Away are a pointless excercise except for watching some good footy. The passion may still be there but to what end?

Club memberships will drop off
Sponsors will leave as no one will there to see their signs or ads in the newsletters and year books.
We will end up with about 500 if that at games
The WAFL Presidents have voted to have a top 5 and that is just a spin to get more money in for them and the WAFC/WAFL (Who are going broke)
That is 5 teams out of 9 and you can be sure once Peel gets it act together 2 of those 5 will be Peel and EP.

The result of the top 2 sides today brought it home to me and as the 91.3 team said calling the game NO ONE WILL TOUCH EP in the GF.
So what does that make the WAFL GF a game between the top 2 sides and the winner unkown? I dont think so. Might as well read the last page in a book or watch the Finale of a TV series.

My passion for my club is my life but I am now thinking whether it is worth it as we certainly dont have a LEVEL PLAYING FIELD in the WAFL anymore.

I have noticed almost every post on this great site is about the Alignment or if it comes down to a game it always comes back to the alignment. Now isnt that fun at least in the past we baited and slagged each other but now we all appear to be on the same page.

I have to be honest it depresses me and even I cant stop thinking about the situation and where it is heading. All I can see is the destruction of a great comp that is over 100 years old and part of my life but I will not tolerate the bullshit and lies comming out of the mouths of those who nothing about the true supporters and do not LISTEN.

They tried the alignment and got rid of it because it didnt work back in 2000 they say it is different now.. WHAT IS THE FARKEN DIFFERENCE? when we have a club playing and as Micale said on 91.3 the players in EP today had accumulated over 500 AFL games between them!

The Top 5 was tried and dropped - but here it is again..

Yes I know it is another post on this tragic subject but I am now looking at the WAFL die hard supporter who goes each week and cheers his team on and gives a yell when a player does well. You can bet that player hears it as well and it helps him try harder.
The future players will run on playing to small groups and will not have crowd support and believe me the players love the supporters and the accolades they receive. I have heard many a player say THE SUPPORTERS GOT US OVER THE LINE.

Just a bit of a ramble and would like your input.

I would really like to bring some positives but cant see any. Lets see if they make any major changes over the next year and if they dont I will move on.

Gotta look at the bright side of the street :) Lets enjoy it while we can :) Enjoy

The wafl has been dying for years, since the vfl teams were created.

Simple fact is that as a second tier competition it needs a complete overhaul.

I would like to see it being aged based Colts, 20' and 23's. The 23's should averaged over the team so there is a sprinkling of older players. teams should also be able to apply for exemptions with the other clubs agreeing 2 or 3 marquee players.

The compwetition would then be a dfating process, which it is already and may encourage a younger supporter base.

Not sure that it would help but something needs to be done.

Grump whilst I acknowledge your good intentions if the WAFL is to degrade to a meaningless set of matches which are trial games for the draft count me out. If that were to come to pass then all the tradition and spirit of the WAFL is lost.

Isn't it now just a shadow of what we all loved even when my team got flogged by the tigers and swans. Now all the clubs are doing is acting like stud farms for the AFL and then as practice squads to keep their players fit!

To a certain extent you are right Grump with the following qualifications. We still have a colts, ressies and league structure for most clubs. Obviously for your club and Peel you only have colts and ressies. Therefore, there is still the feeling of cameraderie and club spirit for the players playing in their club's jumper. If it were to be just a recruitment vehicle then that goes out the window and I would suggest most players who won't be drafted would find teams where they can be a part of a club and not just an extra.

Further where would Swans be without the services of great servants of ur club like Ames, Geappen, Simpson, Casserly etc?

What a load of shit Grump

That is just an East Perth supporter trying to justify their club selling our competition out for their own personal gain.
Before this Alignment bullshit the WAFL comp was starting to pick up again and was a great competition, so don't try and cover this up by making up crap.

The facts are that EP have sold us all out and rooted this comp.....but you know what, I do believe in Karma.

I would put Grump in the non-delusional camp of EP supporters. That is, he realises that it is not EP which will win the 2014 GF. He is by no means a Barney, Larry Bird et al.
