Maybe the alignment model we have is wrong with the new stand alone Adelaide Crows reserves team in the Sanfl drawing 10,000 to yesterday's game versus Glenelg. Crows members get free entry so that would swell the crowd. West Coast Eagles v Swan Districts at Basso would surely get close to 10,000 you would think.

Freo taking over Peel completly and calling them the Mandurah Dockers wearing the same jumper and singing the same song and WC forming one new team and having them wear the same jumper and sing the same song would do this. No WC supporter is the slightest bit interested in watching their team in an East Perth jumper.

Said it all along.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

But note mate. The Crows weren't given a zone or a colts or reserves team.

A bye for the lower grades against a stand alone AFL team is fine.

Should be the same here La Hincha. This way less players are needed as well.

Yep, that was the reason why I disagreed with your plan at the time. Zones! The most important thing to all WAFL clubs.

But we have another problem. One I didn't understand until I spoke with some East Perth people recently and that is Bronte has been pumping an extraordinary amount of money into East Perth for many years to keep them alive. One person said it was as much as $500000 per year some years.

He isn't prepared to do that anymore.

If East Perth were to go it alone again, they would have to find that money from somewhere and they don't seem to think that they can.

In the mean time, they are going to become addicted to the financial support provided by the Eagles, just as they were addicted to to the support Bronte gave them.

In SA, the other SANFL clubs had the option of sending a couple of promising players to the Crows to gain experience, which seems weird to me. Maybe they're hoping they'll land on the list for $$$

Hopefully here, the Eagles would draw from the ammos, maybe that West Coast Eagles state u/23 thing they have.

The bottom line is it once again shows up the people who run football in Western Australia, and the smart ones who run football in South Australia. The facts are the SA made it work. They found a way to retain credibility for their traditional clubs, get commercial & ABC telecasts , decent crowds and retain a public profile . All the things we have now NOT got.

The end of the day it's chalk & cheese. WA has botched it.

Well done you bastards .

I have heard the same stories mate, but I reckon that is just a meek cop out! All clubs except Subi are living day to day and year to year, plus the WAFL community wouldn't let East Perth fold up as much as we dislike them
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

I agree, it does seem weird that only one club (East Perth) believe that they can't survive while the others keep chugging on.

The problem is, if those making the decisions at East Perth have convinced themselves that they can't continue without Bronte's money, then, they are as good as finished anyway. I mean, if the resolve simply isn't there from within then no one can save them.

The EP supporters who don't want the alignment should get together and come up with an alternative plan as soon as they can. Finding alternative sponsors etc because if the Eagles pull out of this deal EP will need to find sponsor money quickly and I'm not convinced that the WAFC will bail out a G7 club like they have Peel.

The question is, how did they get to this point where one person was propping the club up financially for so many years.
