5 rounds behind the afl seems wrong. Surely you start in early April, not mid April  The footy season is the footy season. The wafc has outsmarted itself.
 

I think its because they only have 18 rounds as opposed to 22 in the AFL and they also want to play the WAFL grand final the week after the AFL GF.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that the WAFC thought that we would be over the COVID peak by mid April reducing the chance of disruptions
Like you I am going stir crazy at the lack of WAFL footy. At least we have some scratch matches in the next few weeks

I think having the Grand Final like last season is the go.
The late start is because only 18 weeks of qualifying matches. So essentially equates to 2 rounds where the teams come up against each other twice. Hopefully the high china virus numbers start decreasing soon too..I believe the level 2 restrictions currently in place will cease on thursday of this week, and will go back to level 1. The seasons' late start should mean more people can attend the various grounds, now restrictions have eased. Going to be on level one for quite some time it appears.

Having said that I notice the SANFL 2022 league bouncedown being on the Ist of April and for a 19 week of qualifying fixtures.

It lloks like the WAFL are on the money with this as COVID peak is here and clubs are getting decimated. By the time the WAFL starts covid may be on the way down.

25k would make it the 2nd or 3rd biggest crowd in the last 20 years so bring it on.

We got 30 000 last year. And subi won that, just in case anyone has forgotten.

Swans and Perth were in the colts and reserves grand finals that's why.
