Another week gone by in C2.
Carlisle pushed to the very end by Mosman Park (a week after Mosman Park beat Canning Vale) - would love to hear the adventures of Mosman Park's umpire again - I also have a great story after last weeks game about him...
Bassendean easily beat Coolbinia WP, perhaps by not as much as we all would have thought??
Thornlie account for SNESA, again, the margin by not as much as I would have thought??
My boys dismiss Swan Valley - seems the Valley have dropped blokes to the 2's.. that was clearly the worst League side we have played against all year.
And finally, a rejuvenated Noranda get another win on the board over the struggling Swans from Warnbro, keeping their very SLIM finals chances alive...
Story about Mosman Park's umpire - apparently after last weeks game in the umpires rooms, our Umpire decided to let the fellow know how much of a wonderful job he had done on the day. Clearly the Mosman Park umpire didn't appreciate the comments and he officially reported our umpire....! hahaha
Luckily, the League seem to have some level of sense, and they quickly threw out the report and also overturned a Red Card that one of our players unfairly got during the game..
Canning Vale vs Swan Valley (Ladies Day)
Colts;
Close game for three quarters as the Valley boys put up a good fight. A scrappy game really, I am always expecting seeing the kind of Colts footy that Bassendean and CV put on last season, and I don't think I will... Either way, the Cougar Cubs were able to put some good footy together in the last term when the game was on the line, and managed to win by 5-goals.
Reserves;
This old man was allowed to be dropped back to the twos to play with his mates for the first time in 2-months and he thoroughly enjoyed himself.... apart from the result. It seems Valley have zero intention to try and stay in C2 next season as they had a few handy players running around in the two's that could have dearly helped the League side. Thing is, it worked and they ran all over us, particularly in the midfield! Will be a force come Reserves Finals if they can scrape into the 5.
League;
Score speaks for itself, absolute blow out after the first term when the Valley had the advantage of the strong wind at the Den. The Cougars banged on 22-Goals to 1-Goal after quarter time. They put on a show in front of their Ladies.
Our lovely Pink Jumpers were auctioned off afterwards and we managed to raise a cool $10,000 for the Breast Cancer Network Australia...!
For me though, the highlight of the day was seeing Damo back down at the club! Damo is walking again which is fantastic for him and looks like he will make close to a full recovery! Quite a funny story is that he was walking with one of our members out at Shenton Park rehab and I believe he only had one thong on, and only realized when he looked down that he hadn't put the second thong on - he couldn't feel it!! hahaha
Unbelievable to see the big man smile whilst we presented him his $50,000 cheque that the CVSFC and the WAAFL community worked so hard to raise - all to help a fallen brother out!
Life is good, gentlemen!
