Is that why their ressies forfeited?

Thought someone would say Ellenbrook won league due to the ressies forfeit and playing their best 22 in league game! Not me Whitey but someone!!

It was good of Cockburn to give notice that they couldn't field a ressies team. Which is good for ellenbrook I guess, because actually field their best team in league this wknd

Interesting day down at kingfisher in the week end, really gave us a honest opinion of where we are at! Full credit to Ballajura, out worked us and got the result, they sucked us into a shoot out and we simply didn’t have the fire power!

I think we had ascendency in the middle, yet when they turned the ball over on the half back line they built their attack and smashed us on the rebound, they were also deadly in front of goal early.

Brentwood had most of the play in the first quarter but could make the most of the opportunities kicking 4 goals 4, balla took a two point lead with 5 straight goals. Second quarter is where balla won the game came out and flogged us all over the ground, kicking 6 goals 2 to our 2 goals 4 or something similar. Giving them 11 goals by half time, it was always going to be hard! Third quarter we came out and got on top again, probably went in a three quarter time about 4 goals down. Think we got back to within 2 goals in the third at some stage. In the 4th we scored the first goal and I thought we would run over the top of them, was a tough struggle until they goaled again with about 7 mins to go, which left us 4 goals down and the writing was on the wall, to their credit they didn’t take their foot off the peddle and we seemed to stop a bit which was disappointing, giving them 3 – 4 more goals in the last 5 minutes.

Very nice of balla to put a carton in our change room for after the game, was greatly appreciated!

I don’t like to whinge about umpires as I think it is C3 and very one makes mistakes, but their old pensioner is a shocker, not a cheat, not biased, but just can’t see and can’t hear! Giving our coach a 50m penalty to hand balla a goal late in the third quarter was extraordinary. And another one, where I have clearly touched the ball, he called all clear. It wouldn’t have changed the result, but just frustrating!

Interesting to see DM flogged Kenwick, would love to hear the write up, maybe DM are genuine contenders, taking all in front of them at the minute!!

This weeks game against Swan View just became so vital for both teams, should be a cracker!!

I was pretty happy with myself after that goal I must say bulldog, a reward after following piper around all day. As for the ump he may make one or two errors but he is the most consistent umpire we've had for a club umpire for a long time now. I think you were a bit unlucky from that touched ball, but as for the 50 he is never tolerated any chat back from anyone and we have learnt from that as the season has gone on. You probably weren't helped by the bunch on the bench on the far side behind the goals either but these things happen. Overall, happy with the win and looking forward to hosting fellow contenders in the upcoming few weeks!!

the scores tell the story from our day up at Light st, I got talking to an old mate during the Reserves so I saw even less than usual but what I saw Dianella use the handball more than most teams and had a number of players who where willing to run the lines. their full forward had 6 at the half I believe and was finding space to work whenever he wanted to.

the league game actually started off fairly well contested with us holding a slim lead at the first break maybe 2 or 3 points. that is pretty much when Dianella took over. at one stage the Raiders was playing their whole team in their back half and then as soon as the ball was turned over they all took off forward leaving our backs to try and scramble to cover the men running down unsuccessfully more often than not. they stymied everything we tried to do for the next two quarters and found open men seemingly at will. I think they kicked 12 maybe 13 goals before we got our next goal in the last quarter. they had a very different team from the one we played in the first round, missing their goal scoring power as sticks put it didn't seem to hurt them at all and maybe it spread the attack a little more than using a couple of key forwards. this loss brings us right back to the pack and we have the week off to stew over that game and I'm sure we will be in for a couple of hard sessions to regain our edge.
