Well order and a sense of normality was restored to this great country of ours on Saturday and I'm not just talking about Wanneroo being back on the winners list. 3 pretty good games all round at The Wanneroo Showgrounds on Saturday.

I started my day with an early wake up call thanks the inclement weather yet I wasn't going to waste the extra 3 hours I had wake. If I had a Mrs Mysterious I would have probably been involved in extra curricular activities with her, yet I was reduced to playing some 2K13 and FIFA on the PS3 and then went to vote. I enjoyed my voting process and afterwards I had time to snack on a breakfast roll (including bacon, egg and sausage) it was a brilliant start to what I was hoping was going to be a brilliant day.

I don't like to break routine so I arrived early to watch the colts game. The early morning rain made the ground look in better as the sand wasn't too bad. Thornlie got the jump on Kingsway kicking the first few goals. I've never seen a grown man squeal before, but after Kingsway got penalised for a deliberate rushed behind (it was clear cut deliberate) the elder statesmen on Kingsway's bench definitely let loose.

*editors note* (it was a sign of things to come throughout the day that confirmed 2 things for me. Teams east of Wanneroo road are different to the rest of us and that Kingsway players, officials and supporters clearly haven't had presented rules of the game DVD by the umpires)

After Thornlie had the lead in the first quarter that was pegged back by Kingsway in the second. If you were kicking to the right of the screen it seemed to be the scoring end all day. Kingsway had the lead at half time. Which led the Kingsway players to say we are all over them, maybe they were but they were only up by 1 point.
After half time it was much of the same Kingsway were leading by a few goals at the last change and I mustered up everyone I could find (3 people) and I started cheering for the Mighty Lions. There supporters started getting around them and they got as close as 2 points till Kingsway kicked a goal with around 1 minute left. And got the win by 9 points.
It was a good game of football. I'd be expecting most of Thornlies players to push up the grade and get back to C1. Sadly no little biffs in this game, that's ok, I'm sure we will see some next week as Its the battle of the Kings Cup The 'Ley' v The 'Way'.

It's around this time I usually go get some hot chips to eat. Do I really have today this, but Wanneroo takes the cake for season 2013 for hot chips quality. Cooked well and they just have the right amount of gravy on them. Well done to the fine workers and volunteers of ALL the club canteens throughout 2013. (Except for those with no hot chips). Well done!

The reserves game was very one sides in the first quarter with Melville dominating play and the scoreboard. Seeing as a large crowd started to form outside of the bar area I couldn't not see, but I knew Gosnells hadn't kicked a point. The crowd was on Panda watch as jungles and forests roared each time he got a touch. Gosnells did peg the score back and only trailed by a few points at the main break. I waited in anticipation outside Melville's rooms for the coach to unleash his verbal lashings like last weekend, yet he did not.
Melville came out and played exactly like they did in the first quarter in the third and the fourth quarter and ran over the top of Gosnells. It should be a good game next weekend as Wanneroo Roos take on the Melville Rams. Not sure if a Ram has ever versed a Kangaroo or a Wallaby or two out in the wild, I'm sure this game will be close.

Time for the league game. The crowd was building in anticipation.
Kingsway kicked the first 6 points of the game...literally. They actually kicked 6 behinds to start the game. Wanneroo managed to kick a goal close to quarter time. The pressure early on from both teams was evident and you could tell that it was going to go down to the wire. The second quarter was just as tough as the first. A Wanneroo player ran back with the flight and got cleaned up by both a Kingsway and Wanneroo player. He stayed on the ground for minutes as Kingsway went on to kick a goal. To his credit he jumped to his feet and "cliffy young" shuffled off the ground. The scores was very close at half time with a little verbal barrage from both sides as they formed huddles to jog off. A little incident occurred when an injured Kingsway player threw a ball at the back of a Wanneroo players head as they jogged off. Some officials got involved and quickly defused the situation before things turned out very very bad.
So a few hostile crowd members from both sides seemed to calm down as the half break concluded.

It was very much the same in the third quarter. Tough scrappy football. And the Wanneroo player who got poleaxed returned in the second half.
The crowd was huge at this stage and the grandstand was full. Also a large number of supporters were towards the Wanneroo Road end. The crowds got behind both teams and it was again very close at three quarter time. Another little incident occurred at 3 quarter time a few angry players from both sides new they had to put it all on the line in the last quarter.
Now I am not sure what game Kingsway were watching however, if they think that the umpiring was of the best standard then they really have no idea.
The crowds were in full voice as the lead changed a few times in the last quarter. When Wanneroo hit the front I knew they would be hard to beat. As the crowd started counting down the time themselves. Wanneroo did have a few opportunities to seal the game but they left the door light ajar for Kingsway. Yet they ran out of time.
Only 1 umpire heard the siren as the crowd roared. Probably the best game I have seen all season.
Wanneroo won by 2 points.

Wanneroo players and supporters were jubilant, while the Kingsway crowd and players had a club meeting out on the middle of the oval.
The umpires copped a mouthful from Kingsway as they walked off. Not sure why I thought it was a very well umpired game. That's life I guess. Should be a very good game next weekend and I expect a similar crowd to this weeks game as there was on Saturday.

On a side note Mr Mysterious was banned from OZfooty yesterday. But he's back and he had. Very good time last night. Thanks to all who came and shared a beer with MrM. I even got a shout out from Clint Wheeldon.

One of the more wound up write ups I have read from you Mr M!

I only saw the second Half of the colts game, so from what I saw it was a hard fought contest. Kingsway got the lead going into the last quarter, but couldn't stop the fight of Thornlie who got right back into it and until Kingsway kicked the final goal with a minute to go, it Thornlie had the momentum. If Kingsway play like that this week, expect Kingsley to get over the line quite easily, as they will capatilise 100% on any lack in concentration.

The reserves game as Mr M said was all one way in the 1st quarter, Melville wanted to redeem themselves after last weeks efforts and they started off in great fashion. Gossies clawed their way back in the second quarter but still left the rams in front at half time. The rams kicked back out in the third quarter and held it for the rest of the game. They will be hungry for revenge on Wanneroo which should make for a great GF!

The league game was an intense battle all the way through. Kingsway did itself no favours kicking 6 points before a major, which left Wanneroo right in the game. The second half was a great battle, and at half time Kingsway were up by a point, so by my prediction should have gone on to win the game. The second half was much of the same with both teams blowing golden opportunities to grab a hold of the other and it was a clear sign of the pressure they were putting on each other. #7 for Wanneroo was carving up the Kingsway defence and proved to be the difference in the 2 sides!

Mr M, its clear to me throughout the year that supporters of ANY side will back their team, even at decisions that were not there, and this continued on Saturday. I don't think the umpires were bad at all. But in the last quarter probably pulled the whistle out a few too many times and disrupted what had been a great game of footy. The yellow card dished out was not a cardable offence, it was merely a free kick. If you do think it was cardable, then there were at least 3 other instances throughout the game where players should have been carded. None the less it was still a great game, the best I have seen this season.

Any hints to why you were Red Carded Mr M, did we write something that upset the moderator? Maybe it was because you hadn't invited him to your party!

Not really wound up, I just write the facts,
Even heard the offender mention that he probably deserved a yellow card.
Not sure, I think the "Fun Police" had a problem with whom I was arguing with in a private message.

Sorry about the delay in posting boys but when the Panda King is back in the big smoke full time he spends a lot of his spare minutes choc a block up young ladies from south of the river. Anyway lets move this along quickly and get onto the weekends game. The Rams arrived on a 53 seat bang bus loaded up with 100 club members, 22 players and 78 females all vying for the attention of the King who was fresh from flying in the night before from his final swing up north for the year. It was nice of the boys to organise a double heady for me on the way up from a couple of 18 yr old birds. Might have had something to do with the injury yours truly sustained in the first quarter.

So after being escorted to the home rooms by security the fan favourite started preparations almost immediately in an effort to erase the memories of the lean weekend prior. Clearly a few of the Wanneroo officials were keen to get in for a look at the King as they kept finding reasons to come into the club rooms and then walking out again after achieving zilch. Due to the early preparations, i didnt get to catch any of the Colts but as we all know, i have absolutely zero interest in watching 21 yr olds running around against 17 yr olds.
I also noticed the stats the Roo boys have on the notice board regarding marks, posessions and disposal efficiency... i tell you what, for a small fee ill be willing to come down next year 1 night a week to work on Kicking efficiency with you boys because there is a serious problem there.

So the Main game (Reserves) started with Melville absolutely dominating with what seemed like a 1-2 goal breeze but effectively ended being a 5 goal breeze in the first half. The Rams banged on goals while Gossy really didnt know what hit them. The People's Panda managed to strain a groin early in the first in a marking contest and struggled for mobility through out most of the first half. The Rams went in with a 5-6 goal advantage at quarter time in which i dont think Gossy troubled the scorers which was much appreciated.

In the second the Gossy train got going and they dominated clearances and general play to surprisingly enter the main break only a mere 4 points in arrears. A hush went out throughout the crowd (apart from a few snide comments from some Wanneroo boys) when the King left the field with about 5 mins left in the half to have the groin tended to. The tide was starting to turn and it looked as if Gosnells were really setting themselves up nicely to come home strongly.........

During the main break the Panda was rubbed like a cute step child about 1.5cm away from the most famous piece in Amateur Footy which resulted in plenty of blood entering the region and the pain of a stained groin disappearing. Call it what you like but i'd put it down as the biggest master stroke in the game.

The Rams came out after half time with a ferocity at the ball not seen since about Round 12. The Peoples Panda kicked 3 goals 2 for the quarter and in what can only be described as solid team effort the Rams built a lead that would never be eaten away.

In the last going towards the non scoring end the rams finished strongly with another 2.2 to yours truly and a 6 goals win against a much improved Gosnells out fit compared to the side we faced earlier in the year.

This sets up a mouthwatering battle between Melvile and Wanneroo and more so the Panda and Creepy Crowley. Get ready for a belter sports fans.....This will be bigger than last years AFL GF...... Rain, wind, panda, goals, last game of the year, stubbies, Mad Monday, Footy Trip, sluts.....The list goes on. The best time of the year is here. Embrace it!

The league game sounded great. I had a couple of brews and saw the huge collision before leaving at half time. Let me just say that the bloke that got cleaned up should be filthy with his team mate who was in the contest. Instead of calling his mate out who was running with the flight of the footy, the bloke running next to the Kingsway guy p00ed his pants and pushed the kingsway bloke into the contest and pulled out himself resulting in almost killing his mate!!! Extremely soft and if he was at my club he would be playing twos this week #kitten!

Anyway, all 200 of us got on the bus at half time plus a couple of the league players GF's that were out on the ground and headed back to Rams Stadium for what was a memorable night! I got home on Tuesday at 6am which made for a tough training session in the rain.

Looking forward to Saturday even with the horrendous weather forecast!!!

Get on board the Panda Train this weekend.......

The bloke who got cleaned up is the most courageous bloke at the club, sometimes stupidly courageous. I have seen him run back like this numerous times and there would definitely be no way that anyone could call him out of anything on the footy field!
