Neutral boy here, a local of the northern suburbs who went to go watch the game. For two teams who supposedly hate each other and are 'dirty thugs' (I've read it many times during the season about both sides), what a great game of footy. There were a few cheap hits but that's finals footy, isn't it? Everyone going hard.

Noranda thoroughly deserved the win but it was really just a good hard match. 14 and 3 were great for Ellenbrook but the game was almost won by 21 from Noranda, followed by 16 up forward, and Llane in the ruck. Frank had a decent day but was probably beaten by Ellenbrook's 14. Big number 15 stood up in the last 15 minutes taking two massive marks and kicking goals to put Noranda beyond reach.

Credit to both team's supporters, Ellenbrook are a great outfit and while I don't like their attitude on the bench (Both league and ressies), their supporters in the bar area were great, starting chants and getting beside the boys. Noranda had two big huddles, one behind their bench and another on the opposite side of the ground who made a lot of noise.

Two interesting comments to make
1. Very interesting to see that the opposition bench (for both Cockburn and Noranda) had been moved about 10m away from the marked out location. This meant that the opposition players had to run further to get on the field, and I even saw an interchange infringement against Cockburn in the ressies game. I'm sure it was just an accident -- nobody at Ellenbrook would try such a snaeky little tactic now, would they ;)
2. What's the rule regarding deliberate rushed behind? When I played last year I know it wasn't enforced. Very interesting to see one paid at a critical moment in the third quarter against Noranda. Perhaps in the last quarter the umpire had read his rulebook at 3QT, becacuse in last quarter the very same umpire, in the very same position, did not pay 'deliberate' for the exact same thing against Ellenbrook. Umpiring was a bit average all-round but at the end of the day it's not A-Grade footy.

Anyway i've rambled long enough. Congrats to Noranda and good luck in the grand final and with their promotion. All the best!

I have been curious as to why Ellenbrook changed their head coach during the season? Can anyone let us know the reason behind this?

Who knows, in hind sight maybe should of kept him. Didn't the same coach come back that has been there every year?
