Last weeks’ results had both the home teams coming away with a win. The doggies did what they needed to against The Dockers and The River showed The Jets “this is how good you need to be to think about playing finals”.
In the reserves grade, Swan View had more composure than Secret Harbour in the final quarter to get the win and Wembley made sure Osborne Park’s dreams of making a finals impact from 5th were short lived.
This weeks’ games;
At Brown Park;
League; Swan View vs. Brentwood Booragoon
Round 15 was the last time they both met at Brown Park, and the View had a 2 point win after trailing most of the day. The View have a perfect record at home this year, and wouldn’t want to give it up. The Bulldogs have had 2 hard battles with Secret Harbour over the last two weeks and can expect another hard battle this week. The carrot dangling of a Grand Final appearance and promotion back up the grades is something both teams will throw everything at for, hopefully for the loser they don’t spend all their energy this week and have nothing left in the prelim. Brentwood will be seeking the revenge for letting the last game against the View slip away, and I think that is what will get them over the line by 14 points.
Reserves: Trinity Aquinas vs. Swan View
Trinity have been the bench mark of reserves all season. I’m sure they would be annoyed to have to play at Swan Views home, but that is the reason you need to be competitive in both grades to get the advantages in reserves. Swan View took care of the Harbour last week away from home and now are looking at qualify for a grand final berth. Trinity will more than likely have a fair few to choose from so I think we are going to see their most competitive side for the season, which is a scary thought. Since Trinity have been the top reserves club all season and with the whole club having plenty of success in recent years there will be plenty of players that know what finals footy is about. Given that it’s hard not to back them so I think Trinity will get up by 3 goals.
At Rhonda Scarrott Reserve;
League; Secret Harbour vs. Southern River
Secret Harbour were neck and neck against the Bulldogs until half time, then got left behind from there. Maybe the 2 consecutive hard battles were starting to take their toll. They are back at home now, which we have seen they are a lot stronger. The River looked like they had a training session against Jandakot, and the easy game will either make them complacent or give themselves a lot of belief that they can go far this season. I have a problem with tipping Southern River, since every time I have they choke, but I guess I can back them once more and if they choke again I won’t have to back them next week! Southern River to get up by the narrowest of margins!
Reserves; Secret Harbour vs. Wembley
Secret Harbour reserves will be disappointed with last week and now they are in the do or die situation against Wembley. Luckily for the Secrets this week they will have the full colt’s squad to choose from which will bolster their stocks. Wembley looks to have a comfortable win last week and will also have plenty of players to choose. Flipping the coins says Secret Harbour will get up at home, but it will be very close and could go either way.
Good luck to all the teams!
