2nd Semi Final
Ellenbrook (1st) v Carlisle (3rd) @ Coolamon Oval
Round 4 – Ellenbrook 6.7 – 43 lost to Carlisle 13.11 -89
Round 13 – Carlisle 11.10 – 76 lost to Ellenbrook 21.13 - 139
An even ledger during the home and away season, the winner of this game steps straight into the GF and C2 next year. Carlisle held off a fast finishing Hawks on the weekend and will back themselves to repeat their last effort at Coolamon this week. The Eels come off the bye and need to be switched on against a side which already knows the finals winning feeling.
Ellenbrook to win.
1st Semi Final
Noranda (2nd) v Nollamara (4th) @ Lightning Park
Round 5 – Noranda 19.16 -130 defeated Nollamara 12.7 -79
Round 14 – Nollamara 16.14 – 110 lost to Noranda 17.10 - 112
A replay of the 2012 C4 GF, Nollamara are coming off a strong win and will think back to last time they played and how close the game was. They should have learnt from that and it will be interesting to see if they can apply it for the whole 100 minutes. The Hawks started slowly last week and it cost them at the end when they couldn’t quite run the Cougars down. Spaanderman returning will strengthen their forward line and should give them the firepower to record victory this week – they just have to control the midfield to keep the delivery flowing.
Noranda to win.
Reserves
2nd Semi Final
Noranda (1st) v Ellenbrook (3rd) v @ Coolamon Oval
Round 3 – Ellenbrook 7.7 – 49 lost to Noranda 11.14 - 80
Round 12 – Noranda 10.8 - 68 defeated Ellenbrook 6.11 -47
Noranda are well rested and enjoyed watching the qualifying final at their ground last week. After an undefeated home and away season, they know that 2 more wins will give them the “perfect season”. Outright flag favourites, it’s going to take something special to stop them. This week it’s Ellenbrook’s turn to try. At home (but wearing the white shorts) after the league kept the 2nd semis together, the Eels are coming off a solid win against Carlisle. They’ll have to step up another level this week to make a contest of it, I may be biased but I think they can.
Ellenbrook to win.
1st Semi Final
Carlisle (2nd) v Cockburn Lakes (4th) @ Lightning Park
Round 8 – Carlisle 10.5 – 65 defeated Cockburn 5.10 - 40
Round 17 - Cockburn 10.15 – 75 defeated Carlisle 6.4 – 40
Another game where it’s 1-1 during the regular season, this one could go either way. Carlisle have only won 1 game in the last 4 weeks including the one to Cockburn and will need to turn it around very fast to avoid going out in straight sets. The Warriors knocked off dark horse East Freo and now have the added bonus of any qualified league players slotting into the side. While this doesn’t guarantee a win, it can certainly help.
Cockburn to win.
