He's back! Mr Mysterious has returned to Perth after a brief trip to RADelaide. Thankyou for all the phone calls and txt messages. I am alive and well. I'm sure you all missed my write-up from last week, but these things are hard to avoid so I am quite sorry. Some exciting games this weekend. CWP v Lynwood, the winner should avoid relegation and Kingsley v Thornlie, another relegation battle the loser certain to be relegated. On the flip side we have Melville v Kelmscott and Kingsway v Onion Ridge in what could be an important game in determining the order of the finals. So lets get stuck into it.
Coolbinia West Perth v Lynwood Ferndale
Last time they met
Lynwood 12.15 87 def CWP 12.5 77
This game will mean a lot for both teams are the victor of the game is certain to stay in C1 for 2014, where as the loser has a nervous battle to see if they can avoid relegation. Lynwood are coming off 3 big losees to premiership contenders where as CWP pushed Wanneroo right to the final quarter last week. It will be interesting to see what CWP comes to play as they have been hot and cold throughout the year. I think CWP can get the win here.
CWP by 3 goals
Gosnells v Wanneroo
Last time they met
Wanneroo 21.9 135 def Gosnells 9.8 62
This game does not have too big an effect on the ladder. Gosnells are unlikely to be playing finals, however they are still a big chance to if Onion Ridge drop the next 2 games. Wanneroo sit at the top of the ladder, have already booked the first round finals bye and will be looking to keep the undefeated season alive. There was a bit of spite between these two teams last time around so I am hoping that doesn't ruin what should be a good game of football. Wanneroo may be just a bit to good here.
Wanneroo by 5 goals
Ocean Ridge v Kingsway
Last time they met
Kingsway 12.12 84 def Ocean Ridge 10.7 67
Kingsway are out to claim 3rd spot on the ladder and grab that double chance come finals time. A loss this weekend could put them 4th and a possible rematch v Onion Ridge come finals time. Onion Ridge are going about the business and could be a quite a difficult challenge in finals. They still have to get there first, so they can't afford to drop this game. Should be a good game at Heathridge.
Onion Ridge by 3 goals
Melville v Kelmscott MOTR
Last time they met
Kelmscott 16.9 105 def Melville 5.4 34
Match of the round this week at The Auskick ground. If you look at the score from the last time these 2 teams played you can see that Melville were outclassed by Kelmscott, however as we know Melville have improved a lot since then and are a chance to grab 3rd spot this weekend with a win. Kelmscott still doesn't have 2nd spot wrapped up yet either, so we could be looking at a possible preview of a finals match here. 2nd place is important as it means a home final first week, and a possible home preliminary final. Melville play the Auskick ground well so I think they can get the job done.
Melville by 2 goals
Kingsley v Thornlie
Last time they met
Kingsley 12.15 87 def Thornlie 8.4 52
It is all on the line for these 2 teams this weekend as they look at avoiding relegation. Kingsley have been quite competitive since round 8 as many thought that there 2013 was over by then. Thornlie will need to regroup after last weeks agonising loss by a point. If Thornlie win it could still mean relegation. I like Thornlie a lot more than Kingsley so I hope they get the win here.
Thornlie by 1 goal.
Good luck to all. I look forward to seeing the results at 5pm on Saturday hopefully we all stay dry and out of trouble.
