The biggest money drain on football in WA is the WAFL. It's undeniable. The sooner it is forced to be self sufficient like every other sports organisation and the money used to prop up the comp can go to grassroots the better.

Looks like the complaining continues, it’s a semi professional organisation with paid employees and players so why are you applying your ammo football administration to a different set up ?
You blokes should be more worried with blokes getting paid to play ammos, they solved that problem yet ?

Clearly not much of a problem for the Ammo clubs as they are all financially self sufficient.

Have the WAFL solved the issue of clubs paying players outside of the salary cap?

Of course players get paid outside the cap, same as players get paid in ammos, only those with their head in the sand would think otherwise.
Plenty of community clubs got into financial troubles over the years, no different to wafl clubs.
Look at clubs who make it to a grade and then disappear, no sporting organisation is perfect

From my days Maylands and innaloo, West Coast also used be seperate clubs.
Wesley and Curtin separate clubs, Old scotch .?
Certainly wasn’t 69 clubs then and it used to be harmonious between WAFL and ammos.
Now everyone is chasing a dollar so people have issues with comps who get more money than them

Are amateur Clubs still paying players? Almost certainly, but the player points system is helping.

Are WAFL Clubs 'community Clubs'? Not a chance!!!

Will the WAFL come back to the pack with the rest of us? No.

Should they? No. Playing WAFL should be seen as the next step for amateur players who choose to do go further in football - and as Clubs, we should be encouraging our better players to do so.

At least some WAFL Clubs still have little or no contact with most amateur Clubs in their district.

Are they 'missing out' because they don't connect with amateur Clubs? Absolutely. Stop complaining about the 'poor district' you have been allocated, get off your collective backsides and get out there - you WILL reap the benefits.

We need junior players to see going to an amateur Club as a step towards WAFL/WAFLW, and WAFL Clubs to be seen as a step towards AFL/AFLW - if that is the direction those kids choose to take. Not all will make it, nor do all want to - but they need the chance to.

Surely those WAFL Clubs that haven't won a premiership in 20 or 30 years should be able to see that what they are doing hasn't worked and needs to be re-thought.
