I don't buy it either, why would they limit it to the current mob when there is hardly anyone there now? Its a step towards undoing the whole deal which is what the left want.

Its Kevin07 all over again.

If that is the case (which it demonstrably is not), wouldn't the people smugglers be smart to keep their boats (did someone mention 400) out of the water until June, just to make sure the lyin' Libs don't pull off a surprise win based around a "border security" scare campaign.

I don't think the people smugglers give a rats who's in...they're reactive and when an opportunity to make money such as this arises, they'll jump at it....plus the fact in the unlikely event the Libs do win the next election, they'll revoke this piece of legislation quick smart and close the door if they have sufficient numbers.

Anthony Albanese just got exposed on Sky news when asked so if future illegals end up on Manus or Nauru and they are legitimately ill and need greater health care you can guarantee they won't come here? He changed the subject.

Also Peter Dutton just before told the same reporter of an example of the lies these illegals are capable of. Women claim they've been raped and want an abortion. When they get here they don't want the abortion and withdraw their claim they were raped. Labor, the Greens and these weak independents are a risk to Australia's security. Full stop.
Get on your bike.

I haven't read the EM for this Bill so not sure if the intention is just for those currently on Manus and Nauru to be eligible for medical repatriation but the wording of the amendment is pretty loose and it's obvious it was thrown together at the last moment.

The other thing that gives me the shits on this caper not only is the ill person to be transferred to Australia but also any family on Nauru and Manus plus anyone else the referring Dr thinks should tag along. One person convinces a couple of sympathetic quacks that he's crook and next thing you know every man and his dog is on a plane to Australia !! Why can't it just be the sick person or in the case of a minor, the kid and a responsible person such as a parent?

The fundamental thing about all of this is that if whichever government had processed the people in a timely and effective manner instead of using it a political volleyball then the legislation would not have been required and the do gooders would not have anything to hang there collective hat on!

The right wing folk should go back to their members and ask that question, why did you not process them and either send em back or let them in, the left folk should go back and ask the same question, as for the ones in the middle I like you lot, you are really nice and |I hope you remember that when you hold power and recall that i was on your side on this thread!:) ;) :cheer: ;)

I googled this gtr, and can find nothing to support it.

In the absence of a credible source I think you should treat it as an urban myth.

Because that's what Labor reverted to in 2007 Grump and look what happened as a result....1200 reported deaths at sea as the flood gates opened.
