Sorry about the formatting people. RB Simpson became the first Australian captain to lose to the Netherlands; he also had the distinction of being the first Australian captain to lose a test series against South Africa 1966-67 so he did not have a great record against Dutch or Dutch descended cricketers.

I think it's great that these second tier players are worth bugger all. We have SHANE WATSON mumbling. Players like him should NOT be on contracts. TOO many not good enoughs are being paid as promising young players get next to nothing.

Is the Afghan team made up of expats or indigenous Afghani's?

PNG is a nation that is rising. Not quite as fast as Afghanistan, but then again, no nation has risen as fast as Afghanistan.

If it isn't Holland for the next test nation, then I hope it's PNG.

I love the way they play....so much talent and natural ability. A joy to watch

PNG have had some lads playing in the SA district cricket system to compete at higher standards. It would be great to see some northern Australia tie up with PNG cricket to play "out of season" in a northern Aust comp. We could use Darwin/Nth QLD a lot more to play cricket during winter.

I thought it was fantastic to see Zimbabwe fight tooth and nail against Sri Lanka earlier in the week in a match they could have won. A contentious stumping call didn't help their cause. They are improving under Heath Streak's coaching and have a decent team at the moment. Pity they don't play another test again until March though. Hard to get better playing so infrequently against the best.

gtr: yep, much better than the last test. If they can get 150 runs in front they should really go on to win, especilly given the form of Westley, Stoneham and Malan.

Have them 3 for 10 and then a lightbulb moment occurs - bring on Lyon , not worthy of being tagged even a Spud

Then Maxwell breaks the stand - telling stuff

Just how many more games will be sacrificed for a net bowler (at absolute best description)

Having been watching the ICC 2019 World Cup qualifying tournament in Zimbabwe I have to say the standard of cricket being played from the developing countries has been quite good.
The likes of Ireland, Scotland, Afghanistan, Netherlands, UAE etc have all continued to improve which is a good sign for the future of world cricket.
Interesting to see the West Indies are playing in this tournament to qualify for next years WC for those of us who grew up watching cricket in the late 70s & 80s you could never have imagined this would ever have been a possibility!
