This is going to be fantastic for WA and Perth Stadium which has the best lighting in the country so it will be a spectacular show. Hopefully it is sold out but I wont' be there. I'm not parting with $75 for a home and away fixture for a decent seat and I'm not paying $35 for a nose bleed seat. Just too greedy, $25 and $50 I would be tempted.

Kevin Sheedy had a great idea, how come the slow learners over here don't come up with these ideas? He said every WAFL club member should be given a ticket and the EF v SF Derby should be played as a curtain raiser. Well I don't expect a free ticket but when WA played SA at Optus in 2019 WAFL club members could buy a ticket for $20 and it was a curtain raiser to the Fremantle Richmond game.

Only trouble is the idiots that run the stadium didn't have the gates open for the start of the state game. I got there just before half time and it was open but heard from others the gates were not open for the start. Might not have been until qtr time or later before they were opened.
Did Sheedy articulate how much compensation East Freo would get for the loss of the Foundation Day derby?

With respect the VPL game - is it possible to have a care factor of less than zero?

How about this for a great idea?  The revenue from this game is used to offset the cost of playing the WAFL GF at the premier Aussie Rules stadium in Perth?
Thats about a 10K hit to EFFC if they lost it, chicken feed for the AFL but massive for a broke club like EFFC.

Just goes to show you where the footy going public are in Perth mindset wise, they grab tickets for what is essentially a melbourne contest with no local team playing - meanwhile the WAFL struggles to fill a 1/4 of the stadium for a Grand Final.

AFL rules in this town and theres no going back.

Unfortunately Baz thats what the generation of today have been bought up with. Most young kids dont really follow a WAFL team and most would align more with their community club than the WAFL because thats where most go to watch footy most weeks

Did Sheedy say how East Freo would be compensated or was it the case that he didn't give a stuff about the impact on the WAFL club?

Sheedy would know less about the WAFL than the WAFC board 42 and that is saying something!

The way the Vic media (and sadly to report now the wet behind the ears WA media have followed in like sheep) claim/spruik he is solely responsible for the massive indigenous numbers playing our game is a complete lie and a slap in the face to the likes of Mal Brown, John Todd, Graham Farmer, Barry Cable, Graham Moss etc who were championing the abilities of indigenous talent at League level decades before Sheedy even recruited Long & Kickett in 1989....and yet Sheedy gets all of the praise...go figure!

Thats true mate - but from my experience at Optus there are also a huge number of over 50s that love AFL and now have no interest in WAFL,

That would be the "Chardonnay Supporters" west coast is well knows for. Most of those probably would never had known about footy until the Eagles joined the comp 30 odd years ago

I would add two more names: Keith Narkle, Gerard Neesham.

Very much Fremantle supporters also. I know a heap of Dockers supporters who have zero interest in WAFL now. My parents in law are ex East Fremantle supporters who would barely remember the Sharks colours now.

Fuck sake, seems like the Eagles are responsible for everything except for Covid, tho some of you will find a way!!!  Why is the WAFL dying?  MEDIA.  Our kids get very little exposure to state footy.  Since the Eagle’s inception, the media has basically dropped coverage of our local comp to page 98 behind the Big Brother coverage.  I lived half my life in the territory and north of WA and I can tell you that reading about WAFL games or watching them was nigh on impossible.  The Eagles are just another team playing in the VFL’s AFL, not their fault our media has dropped anything West Australian.
AND, I don’t drink Chardonnay, hate it.
Go Sharkies!!!!

Tonight’s game is another reason for the fall of the WAFL and unless the Sharks find another gear, it could happen again Monday.
