FMD this one takes the cake. They should be sacked the whole lot of them, absolute morons. So now when you stand the mark you are not allowed to move laterally, if you do, Bang 50 metre penalty. It will be a complete farce. We should all boo together (both sides) at any 50 metre penalty given because a man on the mark has moved to his or her left or right. That, and the put your hand up to indicate you are going to contest the ruck are the two most stupid rule changes I've ever known in this game.

No there's another one, a player running on down field within 10 metres of player who has taken a mark or awarded a free kick is penalized 50 metres even if it's plainly obvious he had no intention of interfering with the player taking the kick whatsoever.

The game of now is not a patch on the fast, high scoring footy I grew up on in the 1980s...but these ridiculously dumb new rules also dont help its cause!

I was thinking the same thing when I started reading this thread BH. The only decent rule they've brought in recently is the one protecting the head which I agree with....but then you get duckers taking advantage of it so buggered if I know.
