When I opened Facebook this morning on my iPad there was a message at the top of the page. Basically a statement from Facebook about why it has banned access to news in Australia and why it is different from Google.

It is what I said the other day, Facebook already provides a free service to these Australian news sites that they happily use for free to draw people to their news sites so why the fuck should Facebook have to send a cheque to Kerry Stokes and Rupert Murdoch?

I'm in Zuckerberg's corner in this one, I don't like the prick but he's got a right to stand his ground on this one but he shouldn't be blocking people and government websites.

It's called being objective Southerner, you should try it sometime. As I said I think the guy is a prick and he deserves to be condemned for shutting down Australian government websites and voluntary websites and important information websites but why should he hand over a cheque for millions to these filthy rich pricks who are getting an arm chair ride on Facebook? He should start charging them a fee for posting and sharing their news content on Facebook.
