At least 7 or 8 of those 17 points were from less than 20m out with absolutely zero composure shown by the players kicking at goal as in all of those cases they could have run the ball to the goal line to make a certainty of it but instead rushed and consequently missed.
We somehow continue to pull the crowds and the atmosphere at Basso is always the best in the comp but the fans are continually let down by what occurs out on the park and even more unfortunate was many of our past great players and coaches had to witness that first hand.
That is now 13 losses from our last 14 games!

Spot on BH, both games at Bassendean have been great in terms of the atmosphere and the activities for kids, the club has done brilliantly in that regard but unless the team can start winning games the interest will inevitably taper off. The coaching staff need to keep the players believing that things will turn around and convince them more of what they produced in the 2nd half yesterday (without the shocking finishing) will eventually lead to success. We seem to be a team that is in a losing frame of mind so it appears that honourable losses seem to be acceptable to the players. Supporters deserve more than that.

Thanks DF, I do enjoy writing about the game, it is also a useful outlet to rant when frustrated!. I kept a diary recording my thoughts of each game during Swans last premiership season ( 2010) and presented it to the club at the end of the year. Not sure what they did with it to be honest.

mikeh PFC PPAOA maintain a history room where our memorabilia is kept.
When I retired to Australind I donated a Centenary jumper I had bought at auction.
It had been autographed by Merv MacIntosh, Barry Cable Pat Dalton and Pat Astone.
Sadly Merv is no longer with us but he was true champion of our Club.
It is happily stored in our museum.
It's a great room.
Your notes should be in a similar room at Bassendean.
It's important to preserve the history of our great Clubs.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!
I shot the fukin sherriff!!!!

I left the ground quiet happy Mike.Perth where to good in the end.But it was a good comeback from allmost 40 points down in the 2nd qtr.The crowd +atmosphere in the last 10 minutes was fantastic. Just imagine another 2000 fans there. The place would rock.

I understand what you're saying gtrx and it was a good fightback but my question would be why did they not start playing a decent brand of football until they found themselves 40 points down? What happened in the first quarter and a half to get them in that situation? For whatever reason they were way off the mark and not pressuring Perth at all. I am struggling to remember the last time a Swan Districts team has put together 4 quarters of hard contested football which won't win you every game becuase some teams are more talented but I can guarantee you that if they had played the way that they did in the second half yesterday in every game this season, we would be now 3-0 not 0-3.
As BH has pointed out Swans have now lost 13 of their last 14 games going back to last season and as a supporter "honourable losses" just don't cut the mustard with me any more.

I reckon it would be 2012 or even quite possibly 2010 was the last time I believe we have put 4 complete quarters of football together Mike from skill level, desperation, attitude etc....that is now a long time ago!

BH after what was a horrendous start your mob regrouped and nearly won the game. Surely that is a positive sign of improvement compared to previous games. I'm sure they can look at that second half and think they have the ability to be competitive. That belief and a bit more poise and polish will see them get over the line.

SS I hear what you are saying but when you have lost 12 of your last 13 as we had leading into the Perth game you would expect the team would be switched on from the first bounce to at least be competitive and make it a real shit fight for Perth but what actually occurred was we were non competitive and Perth had the first 7 goals on the board before we scored our first major just before half time and the amount of space and time the Perth mids got and Ninyette up forward was unforgivable.....just not good enough at WAFL League level!

Those run of losses have drained the team of confidence so putting a positive focus on last weeks second half, especially for what is a very young group is something to pursue. Anyway good luck for next week against the Joondy debtdodgers

Only turned up after half time on Saturday but i was impressed with SD tbh. You have some good talls who are very good overhead and their endevour in the 2nd half at least i thought was better than ours and we were lucky to get away with the win. Earl Spalding said at 3 qtr time "they let us off the hook that qtr and we are still in the game". I saw him after the game around the back of the stands as he was walking to the change rooms and said hi, he didn't look a happy coach.

I didn't have a budget but your players looked full of run and had us stretched.
Get on your bike.

DD at the risk of being too negative it doesn't matter how impressive Swans looked in the 2nd half, you guys got the chocolates and you deserved it. I'm sure the Swans coaching staff will try and create some momentum from the way they played late in the game to take into next week, but ultimately if you don't get the result whether or not you are impressive or fought back well is irrelevant.
