I can't remember the year when it seemed that our selection policy was based on whether the player was someone who might get drafted. In the second half of this year that again seems to be a significant factor. The difference between that season and now is we get exactly nothing if the player is drafted now.

42, DW and Mike have you spoken to our SDFC board & football department about your concerns re our non football focus?
We are certainly in a catch 22 situation as without current members not renewing their membership for next year and beyond we could well be in the same position as WP are currently (possibly no SDFC) into the future but then I guess on the other hand members would like to think we would at least be trying to win a flag if not next year at least by 2020 as you can only push the development first card for so long and it seems we have been on that path for at least 4 or 5 seasons already?!
Maybe the club has deduced only $ubiaco and or a loaded up alignment side are realistic chances of winning a WAFL premiership currently and are focusing on a comp that has them 3 sides come back to the field due to funds dwindling and or end of alignments.....hopefully both the SDFC and the WAFL can survive post both![/quote]

No I haven't BH and I'm not sure its my place to do so.Given the response that DW got when he offered his assistance to the club earlier in the year, I would not be sure that they would be up for listening though. When guys like Matt Rogers just walks out on the club, there can't be too much positive going on in there. This year the offerings from the football department have been very slim pickings as opposed to previous seasons where Harding provided members with regular bulletins. I am reluctant though to hold the new coach responsible because my feeling is that there is a deeper cultural issue at play here. It seems to me that Swans is now more of a social club where some people play football rather than a football club where people also socialise. That is my impression and if that is correct I don't want to be a part of it.

I am pretty sure not asking questions of the board, ceo and football department is all that effective either Mike.
Make your concerns known to them why you and others are walking away from the club and they may finally listen!

We need Swan 42 to wright a letter to Commissioner Taylor .Asking for Swans to not play Subi more than two times next year.

I can only comment as to my impressions at the end of 2017 which is when I made a deliberate choice to wait and see rather than continue to blindly and fervently support the club I have passionately followed since childhood. As was back then I look at your comments here mikeh and 100% agree with the sentiments you have scribed. Nothing has changed except the for a new coach who has basically been asked to perform miracles with what he inherited. I'd love to hear somebody like Matt Rogers speak up but I guess whilst the club has the same issues in 2018 that it failed to address in 2017 nothing much else will change.

I think the President and the CEO need to express to us all what this club stands for going forward and what they/we want to achieve in the short and long term.. Only then can you have total buy in and commitment from Staff,Players,Coaches,Volounteers and Members.

I’m not sure the board and the Football Department are on the same page,and or,if some of them even have the passion or drive to strive for a common goal.

If the roof could be closed in the wet weather and the indoor heating turned on or something, the excellent statement could be easily understood. Everybody would like to watch footy there then.
