Massive task for Swans this Sunday and a test of the confidence gained from the win last week. We certainly cannot afford a slow start like the first quarter against Claremont as Subiaco are a better team and will make us pay big time if this happens.

I note a few Subi fans have commented that their team is not playing at their best at the moment so that gives me some hope that we can compete with them in the same way we hung in there when the Tigers were dominating last week. Can't see too many changes in the team unless Simmo is fit. Weather looks OK although there may be a few showers in the morning. Will be strange having a league game at 11.40 on a Sunday but that's the reality of Channel 7 coverage of WAFL.

Mikeh, hard to get a gauge for the real stuff but the pre-season game up there was a great contest for 3 qtrs, Subi ran the game out better for a win but if your guys can put together 4 qtrs it will be a good contest. Last season up there in the cyclone your guys put massive pressure on and got a narrow win, if you can get a couple of blokes to step up and fill the gap left by Davis re the tackling pressure it will make a big difference.

That will be the key for sure SS. Davis has been a huge loss for us in the leadership that he provided and his sheer desperation that set an example for the young players. There are guys in the Swans team who are capable of leading by example but it is a matter of whether they can step up on the day. Freddie Clutterbuck has been a good pick up and has gradually run into form and fitness. He played his best game for Swans last sunday and kicked a vital goal in the last quarter. Hopefully he can carry that form into the Subiaco game.

Does anyone know where Banfield is? He on the ground at the same time as a slowly improving Clutterbuck (who did the little things well last week that made a big difference) is essential for Swans.

Pressure will be the only way to shut down Subi's run.

Good point, He hasn't played in any grade since the game against South in Round 2. I would assume he is injured? Even though he didn't set the world on fire in the first two games his experience would still be very handy.

The first game I will be attending in 2016 after returning to Oz....hope our boys are prepared for the early wake up. Clearly the Subi juggernaut will be hard to stop again this season....line in the sand day perhaps on the cards for our boys

Simmo named again as he was last week, lets hope he comes up this time. At least if he plays Swans will well and truly beat Subiaco in the 2010 premiership players stakes with Ames, Simmo, Jetta and Riggio for us and Robbo and Twomey for Subi. Should be a good reunion :P

On a serious note Nuich is a disappointing out for us and may take Cary or Notte away from forward duties to support young Yukich. Robbing Peter to pay Paul I think, especially as our forward line was much more functional last week.

Oh yes Subiaco have a few injuries too, not a bad replacement this Broughton though.

Harding should be getting the players excited about Sunday, it is an opportunity to test themselves against the benchmark of the competition with everything to gain and nothing much to lose as no one will be tipping Swans this weekend.

On another note has anyone read the interview with Freddie Clutterbuck on the WAFL website? In it he makes an interesting comparison between the atmosphere at the club he has just left and what he has walked into at Swans.

Fully agree Mikeh with our two ...ichs have been a couple of highlights in a less than magnificent start to the season. Whilst we will start at long odds to beat Subiaco on Sunday with the win last Sunday to boost our confiednece and with a similar attitude to the one we showed particularly in the second half last Sunday, us swans' supporters might come away pleasantly surprised after the game.

Nice article Mikeh, but clearly he would have liked to have said a lot more but the message is clear that the former EP culture is evaporating in both the player group and supporter base, going to your mob would be like chalk and cheese in that department.
