Does anybody know why the scoreboard has been taken down? Please tell me it is for maintenance purposes only

maintenance due to lack of use on the home team side of it since 2010 I'd say....

That's pretty harsh BC, I'm sure it's just been taken down and sold to pay towards their massive ATO bill.

Seriously though, I hope it's just for maintenance as it's one of the old traditional boards, would love something like that at Leederville, the electronic thing the Council provided is pathetic and cant be seen in the outer.

The so called Heritage Listed Gates have not been replaced after a contractor destroyed them last year amid promises from the council it would be done straight away. I really hope its not another case of work being proceeded quickly and without thought or consultation in the anticipation the ground development goes ahead..

Lets hope no one accidently backs a D9 through the heritage listed grandstands, that would just about complete the demolition stage of the new development.

Yep, Heritage Listed does seem a little pointless sometimes

it depends which part is listed...if its just the facade then you get the ridiculous situation of a front wall or whatever sitting there like a pimple on an arse with a new structure behind it. i'd much rather they either leave the whole thing or demolish the lot under those circumstances.

I did a google search and came up with this article from June 2015 in the Eastern Reporter

This suggested that the supports were rusting away and needed replacing and it seems they might have put this work off till now.

The article also quoted the Bassendean Mayor saying that the current scoreboard has only been existent for 12 years. Makes you wonder how it could have deteriorated so quickly.

It has taken this long to come through but the scoreboard has received a 12 month suspension for putting up that silly West Coast Eagles name plate.
