Anyone hear Richard Offen give the talk on Bassendean Oval this morning?

I learnt a lot, it was quite good, didn't know Bassendean was the first WANFL ground to get a liquor licence and first to use the modern siren.

Also interesting to know that intially the area was a prohibition non drinking zone of Perth in the 1920s.

Was it on the 720 breakfast show Bazza? Might see if I can find out if there is a podcast. Lucky the Swan Bar wasnt around in the 1920's :P

Yep sure was, great to hear the history, spoke at length about the Walker and Macdonald stand construction and history.

Ovals orginal name was West Guildford Oval.

www.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-30/bassendea...-afl-history/6987154 hope it worked

My sire played round ball football there in the 20's and hence his support for swans, only good thing I can about him!
