An absolute disgrace and I expect that the strongest message should be sent to Messrs Walton, McHenry et al from our AGM.

All WAFL supporters should be absolutely disgusted with the WAFC and how gutless they are when it comes to standing up for the WAFL competition.

Everyone should absolutely bombard Walton and indicate just how we feel. Please see below his email address:

How could anyone who purports to be looking after the interests of the WAFL clubs and its competition could agree with the AFL that no compensation should be required to be paid to clubs that lose players to Essendon?

BH I expect you and Grassy to lead the way.

42, I have no doubts SDFC will be reimbursed Crowley's relocation costs.....moving around and within Perth these days is pretty expensive I read...how much you guys seeking.... $100?... :silly:

....as for coaching expenses, pretty sure Crowley will be more than happy to pay back what SD are owed out of his own pocket just to have one more season in the AFL.....wonder after Essendon give him the flick come seasons end, SD will welcome Crowley back into the fold?

Hi BC. I am finding it hard to blame the WAFC on this one.

No one is forcing Crowley to go I know of 2 players who have told them not interested. This is a personal choice.

It sucks big time but for me not the WAFC's fault or problem.

THERE SHOULD BE MASSIVE 6 digit payment from the AFL/ESSENDON per year for any player taken by the disgrace known as Essendon.

Swans will get 6 digits alright, but probably not where your expecting them mate...

TF of course the WAFC is responsible: they agreed with the AFL. It reinforces:
(i) the AFL's complete contempt and disdain for the WAFL and SANFL;
(ii) similarly the WAFC's contempt and disdain for the WAFL and its clubs and its incompetence.

It's done and dusted. Get over it. Life goes on. I think it is a significant loss for Swans but who knows, Crowleys departure may give another potential young star an opportunity to strut his stuff.

Mikeh we have not only lost the playing talents of Crowley but a coach who had a great deal of experience that he could have passed onto our young players and hence enhanced their development and what compensation is Swans getting for losing a player and a coach? I presume you have written to Peter Hodyl and suggested that Swans should pursue any compensation?

Based on Tom Bottrell's recent email to members this appears to be happening anyway and I agree the club should do this. I am not confident the AFL or WAFC will be very sympathetic towards this request however.
