I am persistent in my passion to be elected to the board of the Swan Districts football club. My membership of Swans for over 20 years has provided me with a strong knowledge and belief that as an elected Director I can work with the board to enhance the experience and benefits available to all Swans members and supporters.
I can assure all members that as a Director I will act in the best interests of all members on alloccasions and assess all matters before the board totally on merit without fear or favour.
During my 20 years as a member of Swans I have served on a number of committees with in the club and held office as a former President of the Swansmen.
Work wise, with over 16 years of senior positions within the hospitality industry as well Community based volunteer work I have I believe the life experience to allow me to fulfil the duties of a board member to the high level required.
I live and work with in the Swan Districts area and can be seen on club nights and game days to cheer on our Mighty Black and Whites. This passion started through my early years of playing football with the Morley Police and Citizens Football club and subsequently amateurs with the Bayswater Football Club.
I have outlined some key points that I would like to pursue as member of the Swans board.
Upgrade of the Members bar facility
Funding permitting new lighting, two new additional tap stations, computerised point of sale system and refurbishment of the bar will all add to the member’s experience.
Public and members toilets
We need to upgrade all toilets to modern standards along with disability standards AS 1428.1-200 and work with the Town of Bassendean to reopen the west side toilets.
Membership
I would like to see the cost of Junior Membership reduced and also revisit standard, concession and country membership prices.
Car parking
Work with The Town council for a new car parking area behind the heritage gates.
Ground admission
Be the first WAFL Club to let under 18 year olds in for FREE on game day, currently you have to be under 16 years old.
Secure a bigger budget for promoting our club events and hiring of our facilities
We have some great events at the club and with more local and state newspaper plus radio exposure we could see attendance numbers increase significantly.
Crossing of Guildford Road
Work with main roads and the Town of Bassendean to find a solution to make it safer to cross the busy Guildford Road from the Success Hill Station to Steel Blue Oval.
Over all
As a Director I would also plan to explore all avenues open to us at Swans to ensure the WAFL remains a relevant competition and for it to prosper into the future. I want to retain our unique brand of football, but at the same time to be open to innovation and not be scared of trying some new ideas for the betterment of the whole of the WAFL competition.
I am confident that I can contribute to the board of management of Swans and work with the other board members to guide Swans into the future.
