Swan42 - I think the last words of your post is the absolute truth "...delivered by a committed league team".

The boys looked focused from start to finish. They played solid, hard football today. The pressure on the ball I thought was very good and in every aspect of the game they just looked ready to play. A much different team than against East Freo and South Freo. And though they were in a winning position last week I think both coach and supporters would agree that the quality of football played today was much much improved.
The team looked as you said committed and ready to play and they did that all day today.

It was great to see and get good contributions from some of the younger players today too.

Wonderful win. Will look forward to seeing them down south next weekend. Told the boss I need another long weekend :)

Well F*#k me!
2 of our worst losses in recent times followed by one of the best ever!
Against all odds and with no less than 6-7 starting 18 out. Amazing effort!!
Now to back that up next week.

Outstanding performance by the Swans boys today. After a competitive first quarter they completely blew Peel away in the 2nd and 3rd quarters with the best footy that they have played all year.

Swannies were first to the ball, dominated the clearances and on the few occasions Peel got the ball, they were pounced on by 2 or 3 hungry Swans players. The tackling was ferocious, the desire for the ball was 100% up on the last home game and the handballing and kicking was positive and generally hit the targets. Swans had a pace advantage over the Dockers and they handballed and kicked creatively into space which allowed the faster guys to run onto it.

Ryan Davis was just brilliant today, he had obviously set himself for a big one. His ability to take on 2 or 3 opponents and keep driving the ball Swans way was inspirational to his team mates. Jason Daniels played his best game so far. Houghton gave Griffen a good contest in the ruck and did a lot more around the ground.

The new guys all contributed, Donovan was very pacy and could have ended up with 5 or 6 goals, Whitsed looked at home. Dylan Nelson will remember his first game for that great snap goal from in front of the members and Witjk showed enough kicking 3 goals from limited possessions.

The defence led by Howard, Simmo, Ugle and Ames was watertight all day. Warrick Wilson and Levi Ridley showed why they are so highly rated. Rogers and Riggio and Notte were their usual solid selves.

Overall it was a great team effort and with several guys in the ressies getting some big numbers and with Elari, Faulkner, Cary, Swoop, Blight, Nathan Blakely and Banfield on the sidelines and all hopefully back soon, it could be a nice headache for selectors over the next few weeks.

Peel looked a bit shell shocked to be honest. They looked unbalanced and had too many guys who were lumbering around like Moller and Griffin. Brendon Jones played the worst game I have ever seen from him, he usually cause us heaps of problems, he was closed down by the feral Swans every time he went near the ball. Ballard, Conor Blakely, Brady Grey and Alex Pearce looked OK but apart from that there were a lot of guys who didn’t really come to play.

Its just so exciting watching these 2014 colts players blending in with the experienced guys, now they need to work on getting some consistency in performance on a week to week basis.

Nice also for both clubs to commemorate Steve Bazzo today. It would be good if Peel and Swans could play for the Bazzo trophy in future games. This was suggested on the radio this afternoon and I think it would be a fitting tribute to the man.

Good wrap up Mike ..full credit must go to Davey McKay who not only shut Jones out but won plenty of hard in and under footy himself.
Another 3 debutants pulled on our great jumper today in Nelson, Whitsed & Wityk who have joined Ridley, Daniels, Wilson, Coniglio, Nuich, Slater, McKay, Fletcher, Houghton, Donovan in playing league footy this season with the likes of Dean, Turner, Murray, Ansey, Yukich, Patching et al in the Ressies who are bashing the door down to get a game very soon.

Very good overall performance and I have counted seven players from the Premiership Colts team that have played league this season.

The young players bring pace and enthusiasm with the only drawback being that there will be some inconsistent performances during the season.

Senior players in Davis, Rogers and Simpson were outstanding.

I suspect that The Mayor of Midland may be too busy with his civic duties to post this weekend and give us another pearl of wisdom like dropping Riggio to the reserves.

Did anyone see or know if Riggio went off injured in the 3rd qtr? I know he had 17 possessions till half time and only 3 after that. Would be a big loss if he is out next week.

There is no mention of him being injured in the press reports from what I've seen.
