42 I thought the media / forum comments were at that particular time of the banter that SD were being linked to rumours that they were over their salary cap forecasts for that part of the season and if no fine tunings were done by the management during the rest of the seaon SD would be over at the season end...good to see SD rejig a few numbers, tighten a few belts and stay within the cap at the seasons end.........

No Freezin there was no qualification; it was stated unequivocally that Swans had broken the salary cap. Further, when I passed on the position as stated by our president and treasurer there were the absurd suggestions that I was the president; I hadn't spoken to them; or it was just a figment of my imagination their responses.

Will back 42 there Freeze as around the same time I had the same conversations with the same 2 people and received the same responses. I do recall 42 posting about Hodyl's response and copping a bit of a shellacking from others on this site who chose to believe the local media (fatal mistake in this modern world) who from memory did very little follow up on their big scoop. Just another lazy journalist with an agenda only he was aware of and with no one to answer to when they get it way wrong. Thank god for sites like this where truth can wriggle its way in to the open B)

Got no probs in putting my hand up and saying I was involved here but I was more interested in asking why should folk believe one persons source over another just because they said their source was more reliable or a particular individual?

....and the assumption that you were Hodyl 42 was mine and TBH a piss take.....but didnt Hodyl wear number 42?.......anyway good to hear its all above board....though still reckon Hodyl wouldnt of said to 42 "naaagh we are farked mate" even if they really were........not good PR if one of the senior management discloses important info like that especially with todays social media to someone lower than themselves....surely?

Few beers in the tank Freeze and the word faaaaaaaaarck is pretty much what you'll hear spewing forth out of Hodes so ur not far off the mark. Stand to be corrected but think Hodyl wore number 6 but I can only ever really remember him playing during his second stint at SD. Had a few chats with him last season on the boundary generally at away games and found him to be a decent fella at face value and seems genuinely interested in mixing it with the loyal swans fan base which is more than I can say for a few other toffee apples I've met in similar positions around the league.
As for the number 42 at swans the only name that immediately springs to mind is Craig Callaghan. Played a bit of junior footy with Callers on the occasions he joined us older kids in the grade above at Basso juniors. Would be his second game for the day but he'd still find the ball like he had it on a string even against the biggers bodies. Use to piss me off too cause I was always second rover in our undefeated season in 1990, if #1 ever came off the ball mind you but would be relegated to back pocket when Callers made himself available. Quality footballer and hard as nails and had me covered the day he was born on the footy field. If swan42 is Callers let it be known that he is the bloke that killed my game time so he could develop quicker as a footballer so technically I was indirectly responsible for all his future success by not being good enough to hold my position on the field in lieu of him even as the older kid. Now there's a claim to fame I can take to my grave :silly: :silly: :silly:

I have no doubt you are on the money about jumper 42 DW.....like I said it was me joshing with 42 about Hodyl......great to hear the likes of SD management team taking the time to talk with fans, good for the clubs PR......Andy Holmes was a fella I regularly lined up on against in high school footy.....ran him into form many a game :P .....nice guy, always shook hands post game.....but hey I would shake my opponents hand after kicking 6 goals and having a million possessions on them from from a wing. Think he asked me to state schoolboy trials one year so I could make him look better and increase his selection chances!....nice guy Andy! :pinch:

Calla's was just one of many 16/17yo's we have fast tracked to League footy in my time following the great club.
C.Callaghan, P.Narkle, G.Taylor, P.Sartori, B.Hutton, C.Yarran, N.Naitanui, T.Notte, A.Embley, S.Coniglio, C.Blakely, A.Anderson, M.Walters, D.Garlett are some of the names off the top of my head and all have had an impact almost immediately playing against the "big boys".
Maybe Stav should take heed freeze that these kids can play before the age of 20 ..I seem to remember him getting a go under Mossy around the Swans boys age! ;)

Gawd, you still going on about this.Freezin is 100% correct, the article was using projection figures of how much of the salary cap was spent compared to how much of the season was completed. Otherwise how could anyone state what the total spend of the cap will be when the season was no where complete.

If you bothered to go back and check you will see every time you have complained about this you have been told this explanation. Even when news broke some of your fellow Swans supporters told you to stfu because they knew who the team was.

It is obvious that Belmont SHS failed to teach competent comprehension because you seem to consistently struggle with this.

Outside the subject, I've missed you since you spat the dummy and left us. Forget about the slanderous Gary Walton thread and hang around. The place needs conspiracy theories and reminders of how people thought in the 60's.

Barney one of the journalists who wrote an article about the alleged salary cap breach was told in unequivocal terms that Swans were not going to break the salary cap. It is he who chose not to believe the FACTS. As for your comment vis a vis an alleged dummy spit; there was no dummy spit. I can only presume that you did not have the benefit of BSHS education as you appear to have a bit of difficulty with the concept of slander and why oh why is there an apostrophe in 60's (sic)?

Have I missed you Barney? Let me know if you would like me to answer that question.

So why on earth was it published in the only daily rag we have in WA then Barney?
It would seem to most learned people a non event/no interest article that would have happened a hundred times in WAFL history at the mid point of the season ...unless you had an axe to grind against a particular club!
