to me WAFL champions were fella's of the ilk of say a Rioli, Michael, Peake, Moss,Phil Narkle etc.....Roberts was probably a SDFC champ SD, but in all honesty, he was a very good WAFL player at best.....deserves all his plaudits, but WAFL champ, no not really TBH.

Pretty hard for BC to show respect SD, when one minute you are telling him to f-off...

better men than him have told me to f-off freezin...i cant really see what it is i've said to upset my good friend SD so much...oh well, i guess some people are a bit precious when favourite players retire as I was when Ali Pickett pulled the pin..on that note freezin..do you roll Ali into the champion class or does he just miss out?

yeah BC, Ali and Brad Smith surely would count as WAFL champs....purely out of their achievements I guess....different standard of footy though.....

back to Roberts, I guess from an opposition fans point of view the guy was a tough hard nosed tigerish player.....definitely better than ex SD FF Mark Olsen from the 70's though....from memory the fella played 1 stand out game for EF in his one and only game at the club in 1980!!

You didnt find me questioning Picketts status when he retired R/R, go back and read the Subi thread on Goss

I think the above is typical of the modern football followers train of thought, the era component does not cut it with me Freeze, they both have pro,s & con,s. Todays WAFL players train harder than the blokes in the 70s, have game plans to adhere to, the 60s/70s champs were in the kick and hope era and had 2 or 3 doigs at 1/2 time !

The modern WAFL footballer deserves more accolades than they get, Jason Salecic is a champion in my eyes and Josh Roberts isn't far behind him.

that's why I keep coming here SD.....arrogance, ignorance...obviously you don't like my point of view.....tough titties mate....like I said, in the biased SDFC world, Roberts is indeed a champ....BUT in all honesty, he's a hard nosed, no thrills player who led his team mates well....WAFL champion...naagh that's for players, who even opposition fans rate MORE than highly....eg: Micheal, Rioli, Narkle, Moss etc

But hey SD if you feel or believe the fella is a champ than so be it...but if Roberts is a WAFL champ in your eyes...than what was Stephen Michaels then?....freaking Zeus reincarnated!! LOL

Leedy....hear what you are saying mate.....always difficult to compare era's, but in all honesty mate the skill level of this era....even with all it's sport science technology, is far less than what was put on display pre 1987 mate.....but hey you can only beat what's put in front of you....so I understand your thinking mate....
