The bad news for you blokes is that Kommer is out.

Do you think that is a full stop to his season?  Or just a pause...

That was a waste of 2 and a half hours. Half hearted effort and rubbish football. So many pointless handballs no forward line, abysmal skills. Waste of time playing finals if they continue to perform like this.
East Fremantle were kept scoreless from mid way through the 2nd quarter till early in the final term. They were stuck on 5-2 for an eternity but despite this, they still managed to win.
Swans were unable to put together enough functional footy to grab the game, even though they had 17 more inside 50s than the Sharks. They were obviously told to handball at all costs given the wind but many times their team work broke down because the handballs missed their target or put players under pressure. It was so obvious that EF were far more desperate than Swans and they didn't give Swans any space to create play. Fisher and Anderson got a lot of the ball but were pretty ineffective. The forward line was completely dysfunctional and there were many times that I looked at our forward 50 and it seemed bereft of players.
Both teams were terrible in their kicking skills but I can't imagine how Swans would even hope to compete with one of the top 4 in a final when they consistently kick to the advantage of the opposition. Germs battled hard in the ruck, Turner was prominent but again his effectiveness was low.
I have been watching Matt Riggio for the past couple of weeks and I have noticed that he has really struggled to make meaningful contributions to the play. He was caught with the ball on a number of occasions yesterday and he seems to have lost the pace and elusiveness that has made him such a wonderful player for Swans over the last 12 years.
I suppose my question is would Swans be better off selecting a younger pacier player to give them a bit more run in circumstances like yesterdays?  Would be a tough call and I would rather see Matt get a farewell game at Bassendean rather than just dropping him

It would have been inappropriate if we'd won - despite umpire Jago's brain fade when the scores were level late in the last. There is something very wrong with the game plan at the moment that relies on possession at all costs but with a group of players without the skills to kick and handball with precision. In addition, there is an almost autotronic reaction by most players when securing the footy to handball to a team mate - even if that team mate is surrounded by three opponents or standing flat-footed. MUST HANDBALL... Add a short kicking and handballing game - poorly executed - when the team is kicking with a gale, and I am starting to think that our coach is a dud.

Early in the game Germs dominated the ruck, but like last week, win tap, lose ruck.

I thought yesterday was a time to rev up the players at the breaks because East Fremantle were hunting the ball with far more desperation than we were. What I saw at the breaks was just the same unanimated coach. You don't have to do a Harding but I thought he could have got into them more yesterday.

Firstly credit to EF as they seemed to want it more, were very vocal on the field including telling the umpires how to do their job (maybe we should try that approach) whilst we were just happy to rack up stats instead of goals or at least scoreboard pressure.
If Warrick kicks that goal late in the last qtr to put us in front who knows what happens but EF then went forward from that miss and scored the winner not long after (with help from an incredible deliberate call).
Once again we had about 50 Inside 50s to our opponents a third of that but for a pitiful return of only 5 goals.
Our entrys are at times trying to be too precise instead of actually kicking into space for our forwards to lead/run onto.
Losing Beck (who was nearly our best player to that point) early in the second qtr seemed to be the actual catalyst to wake us out of our slumber and realise there was a game of League footy being played as up to that point we were just playing ring a ring a rosy.
Hopefully his knee injury is not too severe as he has been playing good footy and really found his feet at League level and that would be our third small defender to go down this year after Spackman & Bright unfortunately had there seasons curtailed as well.
